Anime filmmaker Mamoru Oshii worked closely with composer Kenji Kawai when he chose him to create the music for his long-awaited project Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence. Oshii was so impressed with the results that they collaborated on this variant edition of the film, in which Kawai's score is isolated from the film's dialogue and effects and combined with images from the film to create an unusual viewing and listening experience.
