Although the 13 half hour episodes of the animated superhero spoof Garbage Pail Kids were never seen on TV--parent network CBS pulled the plug on the show on the eve of its 1987 premiere, evidently to avoid the wrath of such pressure groups as Action for Children's Television--the series was later packaged for home video, first as a limited VHS release in 1989, then as a full DVD issue--with all episodes intact--in 2006. Based on a series of popular children's greeting cards, the series follows the misadventures of five normal kids who transform themselves into repulsive-looking superheroes in order to combat evil. Each episode finds Clogged Duane, Patty Putty, Terry Cloth, Split Kit and Eliot Mess utilizing their unique grotesqueness, their obnoxious body functions and their hideous personal habits on behalf of Truth and Justice.
