Celebrated Irish fiddle player Martin Hayes staked out new professional and stylistic territory (and made music history) when he opted to begin a long-term series of collaborations with American guitarist Dennis Cahill. Working in tandem, the duo created an utterly unique sound that couples the lyrical heritage of Hayes's native East Clare, Ireland with the Chicago-area jazz and blues sound of Cahill. The documentary From Clare to Here both creates a biographical portrait of the innovative Hayes and explores the roots and origins of authentic Irish music, as it accompanies Cahill and Hayes on their transcontinental voyage from East Clare, to Dublin, to Seattle to San Francisco. En route, insights are gleaned from such legendary musicians as Mairead Ní Mhaoinaigh, Jean Butler and Paddy Moloney, intercut with concert footage and behind-the-scenes glimpses of Hayes and Cahill. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
