Families of the World: Families of Australia
Catch a glimpse of life in Australia from a child's point of view as the Families of the World series takes viewers to the land down under to show just how similar kids are all across the globe. Phoebe is an eight-year old girl from Attunga, a town located just northwest of Sydney. After tending to the animals on the family farm, Phoebe eats breakfast with her mother, father, and brother before heading off to a day at school. Today is Sports Day, the day when Phoebe's school stages a friendly competition with children from other nearby schools. In addition to playing field hockey, Phoebe also likes to study math, play the violin, dance ballet, heard the animals on her dirt-bike, eat pizza, and read a story with her dad before heading off to bed. Over in nearby Sydney, seven-year old Joshua lives with his mother, father, and five-year old sister Phoebe. While Joshua studies English and penmanship at school, his father works in the capitol as a journalist and his mother stays at home with Phoebe while working on her novel. A visit to his grandparent's house and a session practicing piano is soon followed by a warm bath, a story with mom, and then a healthy night's rest. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
