Fresh-faced actress Eleonore Hendricks hailed from Coney Island and entered cinema as a veritable unknown, when tapped by writer-director Dito Montiel for a small-role in the autobiographical coming-of-age drama A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006). Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the strength of Hendricks's impression in this outing (which led the director to explicitly compare the ingénue to a young Jodie Foster), this prepped Hendricks for lead status and paved the way for a more prominent assignment; she posed a dual threat as the scriptwriter and star of the New Wave-esque indie comedy The Pleasure of Being Robbed (2008). ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
