More akin to American films like Once Bitten and Vamp than to the traditional Asian variety, this amusing Hong Kong horror-comedy from director Jamie Luk features martial arts, Peking Opera, and the Chinese god General Kwan, but is otherwise Western in its approach to vampire mythology. Dr. Chiang Ta-tsung (Bowie Lam) is a virgin doctor on vacation in Great Britain, where he is seduced by a beautiful and mysterious young woman named Alice (Ellen Chan). When he gets back to Hong Kong, he begins noticing the usual signs -- fear of sunlight, no appetite for normal food -- as well as a peculiar new fashion sense which makes him start wearing capes and frilly shirts. It's even worse because he's a surgeon, and when he starts drooling like a hungry wolf during an operation, Chiang knows that his meeting with Alice has turned him into a vampire. Alice is in Hong Kong too, and has been ordered by her British vampire master (Peter Kjaer) to bring Chiang back so he can drink his blood. Alice is in love with Chiang, however, and informs him that he can return to normal as long as he refrains from blood-drinking himself. Unfortunately, Chiang's girlfriend has given him a love potion which has some of her blood in it, and Chiang soon becomes a real vampire. It isn't long before he is faced with the vampire master himself, who travels to Hong Kong to handle the matter personally. Sheila Chan co-stars with Crystal Kwok and Shing Fui-on.
