In this episode, the film profiles Eugene Delacroix, considered to be the leading painter of the French Romantic movement. Born in 1798, Delacroix was influenced greatly by a trip to North Africa. His technique became free and fluid, with brilliant color. His work, often of religious themes, met with great resistance from the critics of the day.
