Bruce Edwards

Bruce Edwards

A rather bland RKO contract player of the 1940s, Bruce Edwards (born Edward Lester Smith had appeared with the Bliss Hayden Art Theatre Group in Los Angeles prior to making his screen debut in 1941. A typical 4-F leading man, Edwards often played military officers in wartime melodramas. Because of his resemblance to Republic stunt performer Tom Steele, Edwards was awarded the starring role as novelist Steve Colt battling yet another megalomaniac in the 1947 serial The Black Widow. A far-from-spectacular serial hero, Edwards was demoted to a supporting role in Federal Agents vs. Underworld, Inc. (1949) and spent most of the following decade appearing in such television series as The Lone Rider and Adventures of Wild Bill Hickock. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
