Bluegrass Banjo: Tunes and Techniques
Tony Trischka teaches intermediate students such important banjo techniques as rolls, chokes, slides, timing, speed problems, syncopation, and improvisation. He also discusses how viewers should handle intros, endings, chord inversions, and backup techniques. Students can watch and learn how to play such songs as "Liza Jane," "John Henry," "Nine-Pound Hammer," "Soldier's Joy," "Bluegrass Blues," and "Little Maggie." Other featured favorites include "Weeping Willow," "Leather Britches," and "Cross-Eyed Cricket." Each song is played and then reviewed with in-depth analysis of the many chords that are used. David Grier plays the background guitar while Andrea Zorn plays the fiddle. ~ Elizabeth Smith, All Movie Guide
