Inspired by Japanese mythology about the monster Orochi, Blue Seed's main character, Momiji Fujimiya, is a descendent of the mythological princess Kushinada. When Japan is attacked by angry gods spawned by Orochi, it is Momiji's destiny to be sacrificed for the salvation of human kind.
