Biography: Solomon & Sheba
This edition of Biography, the long running documentary series from A&E, explores the lives of biblical figures Solomon and Sheba. Sheba was a monarch mentioned in the Bible perhaps from Southwestern Arabia (modern Yemen). The video chronicles how she is said to have journeyed to Jerusalem to test the wisdom of Solomon and to exchange gifts. The biography goes on to address Solomon, the king of Israel and the second son of David and Bathsheba. His splendid reign saw the expansion of the kingdom and the building of the great Temple in Jerusalem. This marvel is fully explored in the documentary. Solomon was believed to have extraordinary wisdom and became a legendary figure in Judaism and religious writings. The greatest of these, the Song of Solomon, consists of a series of love poems which have never fully been explained. Biography attempts to determine their meaning and possible relationship to Sheba. ~ John Patrick Sheehan, All Movie Guide
