Arthur [Animated TV Series]
Based on the children's books by Marc Brown, this series brings to life the adventures of Arthur the aardvark and his many friends. Arthur is an eight-year-old third grader with an overactive imagination and a knack for getting into trouble. Even though the characters are animals, they have very human experiences and emotions, which is why children relate to the show. In each episode, Arthur, D.W., Buster, or one of the other characters deals with a problem that is important in a child's world. These topics can be as simple as losing a first tooth (Arthur's Tooth) or as complex as peer pressure and low income families (Francine's Bad Hair Day). Each show has two episodes sandwiched by live action shorts of real children discussing today's topics, a classic PBS success formula. A two-time Emmy award winner for Outstanding Children's Animated Program, the Arthur series is a great choice for children ages three to eight and enjoyable for all ages. ~ Heather M.
