And Then Came Summer
What begins as an idyllic summer vacation becomes a bittersweet journey into self-discovery in this gay-themed drama. A family and several close friends are spending the summer at the beach when two teenage boys become close friends, and soon become drawn into a more intimate relationship. When their families discover the two boys have been experimenting with their sexuality, neither side is sure how to react, and it is revealed that one of the boys had been sent to a mental hospital when his parents first began to suspect he had homosexual tendencies. As the families struggle with the knowledge their sons are gay and the boys attempt to sort out their feelings, the older brother of the institutionalized boy wrestles with his feelings about his role in hospitalizing his brother, as well as his recent divorce and his close friendship with another man. Starring Jesse Petrick, Jeremy Douglas, Mark Bennington, and J.F. Davis, And Then Came Summer was the first feature film from independent filmmaker Jeff London. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
