British supporting actor Alan Howard is primarily a stage actor, but he also occasionally appears in feature films. His movie career began with a small role in the controversial British courtroom drama, one of the first to dare present homosexuality in a nonjudgmental light, Victim (1962). Major roles include that of Michael the Lover in Peter Greenaway's The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover (1989).
