Acoustic Guitar Instrumentals, Vol. 2: Creating Your Own Arrangements
Martin Simpson was born in England where he began performing as a young man. He had the opportunity to hear and learn from such musicians as Nick Jones and Christy Moore. He eventually moved to the States and has successfully recorded many tunes since his arrival. On this video, the second of a three-tape set, Martin shares his skills with students who are able to play at the intermediate to advanced level. He uses arrangements in alternate tunings to help teach viewers how to learn to arrange songs on their own. Martin plays the song "Jock O'Hazeldine," a Celtic tune in dropped-D, to illustrate how players should first isolate the basic melody before filling out the arrangement to add special flair to the tune. Other techniques are taught with additional songs. ~ Elizabeth Smith, All Movie Guide
