ABC News: Lifting the Fog - The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
In 1945, the United States ushered in a new era of warfare when, near the close of World War II, they dropped atomic weapons on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki. At the time, some questioned the wisdom and the necessity of such a drastic act, and nearly sixty years later historians and military scholars continue to debate this issue. Lifting The Fog -- The Bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki is a documentary (produced by the staff of ABC News) in which experts on World War II and nuclear physics weigh in with their opinions on this issue, alongside re-enactments of the meetings between president Harry S. Truman and his advisors which led to the fateful decision, based on Truman's own notes. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
