Capcom's long-running action series transports its gothic themes to an alternate reality where contemporary issues such as terrorism and financial malfeasance confront a more youthful and conflicted version of the series' primary protagonist Dante. DmC Devil May Cry is set in the city of Limbo, where players can once again dispatch demons through a mix of explosive shooting and visceral hack-and-slash combat. As the spawn of an angel and a demon, Dante is also in a state of limbo, and gamers can modify attacks at any time by engaging his special angelic or demonic abilities.

Developed by Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, Enslaved), DmC was designed to offer higher production values and a more involved narrative than previous entries, while still retaining the series' signature style and frenetic action. EA's sci-fi themed survival horror series returns with a new emphasis on online co-op action and weapon crafting as players once again take control of Isaac Clarke as he battles mutant Necromorphs and struggles to maintain sanity and in Dead Space 3. Much of the action takes place on the frozen planet Tau Volantis as Clarke and newcomer John Carver attempt to find the source of the Necromorph infestation and track down their missing friend Ellie Langford. Gamers can take on the main campaign alone, but the co-op storyline reveals more intricate details of the plot.

Dead Space 3 presents a variety of new challenges, including the unforgiving elements of Tau Volantis, massive foes, and a new human adversary in the form of Unitologist soldiers. Other new features include the ability to roll and take cover, and a weapon-crafting system that finds gamers collecting and combining parts to create thousands of different custom firearms. As always, players can access holographic menus to check their health and supplies, and the key to combat is once again to strategically dismember mutants before they get too close. Crytek's hardware-melting shooter returns as gamers once again don the high-tech nanosuit of seasoned soldier Prophet to battle aliens and agents of the corrupt Cell Corporation in Crysis 3. The action returns to New York City, but things have changed drastically in the two decades since the events of Crysis 2. The once bustling metropolis has been encased by a nanodome, slicing the Big Apple into different zones known as the Seven Wonders, and turning once popular attractions like 5th Avenue, Midtown, and Wall Street into rain forests, grassy fields, and desolate canyons.

Combat in Crysis 3 remains varied, with players using their nanosuit's special abilities to assess any potential danger, blend into surroundings, leap high into the air, sprint away from foes, perform stealth kills, or engage in melee combat. The suit can be upgraded and enhanced in a variety of ways as gamers make their way through the single-player campaign, with each of the seven zones offering new challenges and demanding different tactics. Players can also take down foes with a variety of advanced weaponry, including the stealthy Predator bow, the 500-round-per-second Typhoon, and even alien armaments.

Multiplayer remains a big part of Crysis 3, with up to 12 Xbox 360 gamers competing or teaming up to battle on a dozen open maps. There are eight distinct modes, including the King-of-the-Hill-like Crash Site mode, and the new Hunter mode, in which two permanently cloaked hunters attempt to kill the other ten participants before they can escape the map. To hit their targets, players must regulate their breathing while taking into account wind speed, wind direction, and distance, with some low-visibilty strikes requiring the use of night-vision or thermal goggles.

Ghost Warrior 2 rewards successful executions with slow-motion kill animations, limb dismemberments, and explosions.
