After his 13-year-old sister is abducted by sex traffickers, a determined Mexican teen travels from the barrios of Mexico City to a run-down stash house in New Jersey in a desperate attempt to rescue the frightened girl before she is swallowed whole by one of the criminal underworld's darkest secrets. Jorge's (Cesar Ramos) adolescent sister, Adriana (Paulina Gaitan), has been kidnapped and thrust into a lucrative underground trade in which young girls are bought and sold to the highest bidder. Now, as the terrified youngster is herded through a complex network of underground tunnels leading into the United States, her only ally is a Polish woman named Veronica (Alicja Bachleda), who has been tricked into the trade by the same nefarious gang. After circumventing immigration officers and eventually working his way across the border, the desperate Jorge comes into contact with a Texas lawman named Ray (Kevin Kline), whose own devastating personal loss to sex traffickers causes him to join the search for Adriana. In the dark days that follow, Jorge and Ray form a close bond as they witness the horrors of a secret Internet sex slave auction and discover just how far the depths of human depravity can plunge while attempting to maintain hope that brother and sister will one day be reunited. Paco Plaza, the Spanish horror heavyweight behind such deeply disturbing frighteners as REC (with Jaume Balaguero) and Second Name, shows that the seeds of cruelty are more sinister when planed early in this tale of a desperate thief trapped in a well, and the children who go back on their promise to help her out. A group of children spending the holidays in a summer resort village are playing in the woods when they make a most unsettling discovery: A woman dressed in a Santa Claus outfit is trapped at the bottom of a very deep well. Upon approaching the local police for help, the kids discover that the stuck Santa is actually a dangerous thief who has recently disappeared following a daring heist. According to the cops she made off with a substantial amount of cash, a revelation that prompts the kids to go back to the well and begin bargaining in monetary terms. Should the thief give up her will give up the cash, say the kids, they will help her out of the well. It seemed like a straightforward plan, but once they had the cash in hand the kids find themselves reluctant to follow through on their end of the bargain - who's to say that she won't snatch the cash right back and kill them all once she gets free anyway? While they make the decision not to free the woman, they return to the well day after day to feed her and look after her. With each passing day the woman's forced captivity begins to more closely resemble torture, her body weakening due to a steady diet of children's food and her mind growing unhinged due to the grimness of her situation. Then, one day, the children return to find the well empty. The spirit world continues to bleed into reality in Danny and Oxide Pang's supernatural shocker about a group of vacationing teens who happen across a book that teaches the reader how to summon ghosts. May (Kate Yeung and her brother Ted (Chen Bo-lin) are vacationing in Thailand with Ko-fai (Kris Gu) and April (Isabella Long) when a local friend introduces them to a book highlighting ten ways to make contact with the spirit realm. When the methods prove successful, May and Ted suddenly and mysteriously disappear. Two mismatched lawmen are on the trail of an unusually talented criminal in this crime thriller. Quentin Conners (Jason Statham) is a veteran police detective who is less than pleased when he's assigned a new partner, Shane Dekker (Ryan Phillippe). While Conners has been with the force for years, Dekker is a rookie, and it doesn't take Conners long to realize his partner has a lot to learn about the nuts and bolts of investigation. However, the two are forced to put aside their differences when they're given an important new case to crack -- a brilliant thief (Wesley Snipes) has masterminded a series of high-stakes bank heists, and the police are baffled as to how he seems to know what they're up to just as soon as they do. When authorities discover a number of bodies bearing wounds of surgical precision mixed with savage gashes deep within the nearby forest, the citizens of Allariz vow never again to set foot in the dreaded woods. Though a wandering soap vendor named Manuel Romasanta has confessed to the crimes claiming that he used the fat of the victims as the foundation for his deep cleansing skin care products, a deeper investigation reveals that Romasanta may in fact be suffering from the curse of lycanthropy. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
