This is one of those movies that, although not a great story, has some really funny bits, John Candy & Macaulay Culkin are both great. Has some scenes that are real comedy classics. WAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes

Read MoreA heartwarming John Hughes story that allows Candy to do what he does best-run the gamet of comedy from slapstick to pathos. The movie has an edge of adult situations (suggestive only-no nudity) and language ("s**t" is the worse it gets) that keeps it from being too syrupy. Great start, happy ending, plenty of M. Caulkin as the nephew showing the sparkle that would make him a star. My teenage daughters love the movie for Candy's comedic talent, his relationship to his nieces and nephew and the thread of teenage angst that drives the movie. Read More I liked this movie when I saw it some years ago, but I would never let my under-13 kids watch it. In the first five minutes, the adorable child characters rip out about 10 four-letter words. I popped the movie out of the DVD player immediately and sealed it up in its return envelope. Just wait till your kids start practising all this exciting new vocabulary on Grandma or their Sunday school teacher. After all, the kids in the movie do it!
Blockbuster may think this movie is "suitable for children", but it isn't suitable for mine. Close this ReviewWAS THIS REVIEW HELPFUL? Yes
