Anyone who spent any significant formative time in the 80's can't help but be deeply touched by this series. Both laugh-out-loud funny and at the same time deeply poignant, this show is what television is supposed to be about. Characters are well developed and real (ok, with the exception of the Weir parents who are 50's era parent caricatures of reality), and you bleed a little with everything that happens to each of them. Each episode contains dozens of totally unexpected and at the same shockingly obvious moments, especially to anyone who grew up in this era. My heart is broken that it has been so long that the decision to cancel this series cannot be undone. It's a crime in the same magnitude as actually producing the Star Wars Prequels. All I can say is enjoy what was made. There's nothing on TV tonight that will even come close.

I am so sad that there are no more episodes to watch. This series really developed in the last six episodes. The final episode is something special.

My teenage daughter watched this in her high school psychology class. We rented it and watched it as a family. Great springboard for discussion with teens (and some pre-teens) about issues they face today (and not so different from the ones we faced at their age). Lots of laughs but more importantly, serious issues are covered in a sensitive, thought- provoking manner.
