A laid-back health inspector's comfortable routine receives an unwelcome shake up when he's assigned the task of training his new rookie partner and investigating the outbreak of a mysterious illness at one of the city's most posh restraints in this no-holds-barred comedy starring Blue Collar standup king Larry the Cable Guy. It's all greasy spoons and low-rent ethnic eateries in the world of seasoned big-city health inspector Larry (Larry the Cable Guy), and that's just the way he likes it. After begrudgingly accepting the task of training by-the-books trainee Amy (Iris Bahr), Larry lands the biggest case of his career when a group of high-class diners fall ill following a particularly pricey meal. Though the gruff but lovable health inspector soon loses his job as a direct result of his questionable manners, he soon wins the heart of a shy waitress while attempting to go undercover to crack the case and ensure that the conspirators who engineered the poisonous plan are brought to justice. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Former child star Joey Lawrence billed himself as "Joseph" when he accepted the starring role in the WB sitcom Run of the House. With his parents having moved from their Grand Rapids, MI, home to a warmer climate "for their health," Kurt Franklin (Lawrence) was appointed surrogate father to his three younger siblings: restless 15-year-old Brooke (Margo Harshman), slacker dropout Chris (Kyle Howard), and boy-crazy Sally (Sasha Barrese). Forever snooping on the Franklin kids in Gladys Kravitz fashion, and eternally outraged by their basically harmless shenanigans, was next-door neighbor Mrs. Norris (Mo Gaffney). Run of the House debuted September 11, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Dirk Longstreet is back, and he's madder than ever. Longstreet (French action figure Olivier Gruner), a college professor who is a retired martial arts champion, is called into service when his girlfriend, the ambitious reporter Nicole Kent (softcore veteran Gail Harris), is caught by the corrupt guards of a corrupt prison run by a corrupt warden as she captures on video the corrupt kickboxing-to-the-death contests staged for the amusement of the prisoners. They let a very large prisoner, Pike (Jim Shagen), have his way with her (off camera, thankfully). As the now-comatose Nicole hangs onto life in a hospital, Longstreet, with the help of a newspaper reporter (Lorenzo Lamas) and his editor (Jalal Merhi), shaves his head and goes into the prison to bring the villains to their knees, and if he has to break them first, all the better. ~ Buzz McClain, Rovi

One man is forced to go back to the dangerous life he struggled to leave behind in this action-thriller. Dirk Longstreet (Oliver Gruner) is a man who learned to fight and fight well, and put that talent to use in the most punishing environment imaginable. Longstreet was lured into "the Circuit," a private (and illegal) fighting club where spectators will bet fortunes on no-holds-barred battles in which two men fight until they simply can't go on -- often until one of the fighters has died. Longstreet was one of the very few men who not only fought in the Circuit and lived to tell about it, but managed to move on and build a new life for himself. Longstreet joined the faculty of a college, where he enjoyed working with athletes, until he learned that his younger brother, Jeremy (Ilya Morelle), had been recruited to become the Circuit's newest fighter. Now Longstreet must step back into the ring in order to spare his brother the fate he was able to escape. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

He has all but completely forgotten his disappointment when a much bigger problem presents itself: his foster parents can no longer afford to keep his foster brother Sam at home. A young boy turns out to be Earth's last line of defense against an alien threat in this satiric sci-fi adventure. In the year 2007, an advanced alien civilization has learned how to manipulate human beings as part of a strange game called "Earth" that they play for their own amusement. The Chairman (Michael Dorn), leader of the alien tribes, has decided to up the ante and see if he can trick the people of Earth into destroying their own planet with nuclear weapons; as part of his scheme, the Chairman abducts a family and spirits them off to his planet, leaving their young son, Jesse (Jesse Cameron-Glickenhaus), behind by mistake. Jesse knows his parents have been stolen by aliens, and is certain they're up to no good, but he has a hard time convincing anyone of this except for Isaiah (Noriyuki "Pat" Morita), a local eccentric who lives in a shack on the outskirts of town. However, it turns out Jesse found just the right person: It seems Isaiah is actually an alien who has exiled himself to Earth rather than participate in the games, and he soon gives Jesse a crash course on who is being manipulated and how to fight back. Timemaster also features Joanna Pacula, Duncan Regehr, and wrestling commentators "Mean" Gene Okerlund, and Bobby "the Brain" Heenan. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The crux of this limited, juvenile comedy is a complex game that begins at midnight and ends by morning. Of main interest is the fact that a young Michael J. Fox plays one of the students involved in the game. Leon (Alan Solomon) has spent a year creating the game and practically needs that long to convince his fellow students to play it. Eventually he wins out, and the various teams of classic stereotypes -- the nerd, the well-groomed hero, the obnoxious sorority sister, the easily duped freshman, and others -- all converge on Los Angeles at midnight. Their treks take them through the Griffith Observatory which because of those odd hours astronomers keep, could conceivably be open. Other locales are interestingly open too, apparently Los Angeles never sleeps. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
