This Norwegian film offers an often grisly mixture of horror and black comedy. On an island near the Norwegian coast, a young couple, Einar and Lene are vacationing for the summer. One day, after Einar and friend Bjorn go fishing, Lene is visited by her former lover, Gaute. Gaute ends up getting drunk and naked in her home and then falls asleep. He never awakens and Lene is left to dispose of the body. Frightened, she hauls him to a potato cellar. In the process she accidently breaks the corpse's neck. As the story heats up, accusations of murder coupled with further attempts are everywhere as the characters try to determine what happened to Gaute. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In this Swedish comedy and satire, a gentle and shy man is fired from his job by an obnoxious yuppie. When that same yuppie challenges him to learn golf in a week's time, the beleaguered man seeks the help of a friend, who takes him to Scotland to learn the game in its spiritual homeland. Along the way, he not only picks up the basics but falls in love with the daughter of a Scottish golf pro. Meanwhile, his path crosses that of some of the snobbiest and most class-conscious individuals ever to have teed up for a round of golf. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This musical comedy is taken from Torbjorn Egner's best-selling novel from 1955. Police Chief Bastian (Brasse Brannstrom) oversees the law and order of his town, an idyllic toyland. Aunt Sophie (Kjersti Dovidgan) is the local sourpuss who won't let her niece attend the annual festival celebration. A trio of benevolent robbers kidnap Aunt Sophie after they have tempting dreams of delicious food. The robbers are eventually rehabilitated and their pet lion finds a job in a circus. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

This comedy is the latest in a series featuring the vacation antics of hapless Stig-Helmer (Lasse Aberg) and his pal Ole (Jon Skolen). In this installment the hapless city-dwellers go to an island resort in the north of Sweden and try tio impress the ladies by acting like latterday Viking seamen. Their mishaps are treated with affectionate humor, and there is a good deal of satire at the expense of Sweden and the Swedes. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

One morning, Andersen discovers that the amount of household trash he has to dispose of is more than his apartment building's receptacle can accommodate. He tries to find a waste bin in a neighboring building which has room for the offending plastic bag full of yucky stuff, but he has no success. Eventually, he tosses it over the hedge onto the street. Unfortunately for him, at that very moment a burglar's getaway car is careening down the street, pursued by the police. He is immediately in trouble with both the burglars and the police and must somehow handle this situation clad initially in only his bathrobe, as he had set out to get rid of the garbage before dressing. In this comedy, Andersen is a model of cool unflappability, despite the absurd situations he finds himself in. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

The understated farce of director-writer Lasse Aberg occupies center stage in this take-off on a Swiss ski vacation, with all the usual types on and off the slopes. This time the recalcitrant hero Helmer Ohlsson (Aberg) takes a disparate group along to Verbier, Switzerland for a little skiing. Herded around by the usual dictatorial tour guide, the group still manages to encounter enough fun and games to amuse everyone, while any confrontations inevitably lead to manipulative baddies getting their dues. Even the shy, bumbling Helmer seems to come out ahead in this sequel to the highly successful Package Tour -- he actually gets the woman he wants. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
