A group of college students on an environmental studies trip discover something truly terrible buried deep in the woods in this shocker starring Daryl Hannah. Amy Singer and her friends were excavating what they believed to be an ancient Indian burial site when they discovered a human arm bone with a Rolex still attached to the wrist. Realizing that they've discovered a different kind of burial ground than anyone anticipated, the students try frantically to escape as they are stalked through the woods. Meanwhile, Carrie Mitchell (Hannah) is driving to her new house in Salem, Maine when a terrified Amy staggers out of the woods. Amy has been badly injured, and as Carrie tends to her wounds the frightened girl begins to reveal the horrors that befell her friends back in the woods. As Amy's story winds to a close, Carrie realizes that the end is yet to come, and that her mysterious passenger still harbors one last, horrible secret. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Simandl, Starfire Mutiny stars Joe Lara and Elise Muller. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

Direct-to-video auteur Lloyd A. Simandl directs Kari Wuhrer in this silly sci-fi exercise. Wuhrer portrays Sasha Burns, who must use all of her powers to help Governer Crombie (Daniel Fleischer-Brown) stop a spaceship from crashing into (and therefore destroying Los Angeles. In an attempt to keep the audience from noticing the thin plot, the director has included many women-in-prison film clichés and given them a futuristic twist. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

- Kari Wuhrer, Jennifer Rubin, (more)
Being careful about giving rides to strangers is just as important in outer space as it is on earth, as shown in this science fiction thriller. In the 22nd century, a pair of scientists who happen to be husband and wife, Nash (Peter Outerbridge) and Billie (Wendy Crewson), are sent on a special mission to study and record the activities of a dying red star from an observational space craft; accompanying them is their teenage daughter, Ronnie (Michelle Beaudoin). One day, Nash and Billie discover a small escape pod from a larger spaceship; they retrieve the tiny vessel and discover a man inside, Cal (Patrick Bergin), in a state of suspended animation. When the man is brought on board and revived, they soon make the unpleasant discovery that Cal is a murderous lunatic -- who happens to be attracted to their daughter, and who can't be gotten rid of easily. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

- Patrick Bergin
C.C. Costigan portrays Nikki Savage, a guard on a futuristic space colony who must save the world from evil aliens. Lloyd A. Simandl's film combines well-worn clichés from two very different genres (women's prison films and sci-fi horror films) in an attempt to create something different. Imagine Species or Ghosts of Mars crossed with Reform School Girls or Caged Fury and that should reveal the level this film is shooting for. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide

- C.C. Costigan, Kim Dawson, (more)

She also has a special homing transmitter implanted into her skin. Once indoctrinated and trained, she is given her first assignment. If she fails, she will die. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

It is October 6, 2022 and humankind is nearly extinct thanks to a massive alien attack. Astronaut Michael Raynor is fleeing the planet in his spacecraft when suddenly a "wormhole" opens up and sucks him into a time warp. He finally makes it back to the ground and finds himself in Washington state in the year 1992. Soon scientists and military personnel descend upon him and his craft. They get the ship, but he escapes and finds himself pursued by the same human-looking aliens who are destroying the world in his own time. Among the invaders is lovely Karen, who poses as a scientist and decides to help Raynor save his planet. To do this, they must keep Neila from becoming president. They do not know that Neila is himself an outworlder (but discerning audience members who can spell things backwards certainly do!) As the action in the past continues, so does the future story as the few remaining humans battle it out with the aliens in futuristic Washington, D.C. Ten years after the original Chained Heat (1983), this follow-up appeared, more of a remake than a sequel to the first film. Kimberley Kates stars as Alex Morrison, an American tourist in Prague, Czechoslovakia, who is unjustly arrested and incarcerated at Razik Prison. There, the bodacious, drug-addicted warden Magda Kassar (Brigitte Nielsen) rules with an iron fist and the help of her sadistic assistant, Rosa Schmidt (Jana Svandova), a prisoner who has become a trustee. It seems that Magda and Rosa have set up the beautiful Alex, the latest in a long line of physically attractive women they've ensnared at the prison for use as unwilling prostitutes at a nearby casino and as actresses in cheap porn films. While Alex befriends a fellow newcomer, Tina (Lucie Benes) and a transvestite named Bobo (David Buonantony), her sister Susan (Kari Whitman) attempts to get help on the outside from an American diplomat. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

Beyond the Silhouette a Canadian-made, silly, erotic political thriller uses so many pretentious effects and dream sequences that it is almost impossible to follow the story. Samatha Stewart (Tracy Scoggins) is a prim public defender who gives a ride to Vicky (Suzy Joachim) a sexy prostitute running from some hit men and hiding a valuable broach. Before she is murdered, Vicky gives the broach to Samatha who then becomes Vicky's alter-ego, eventually becoming a prostitute. This direct-to-video erotic thriller will disappoint those looking for softcore sex. While Scoggins is quite beautiful, she does little more than model a variety of sexy lingerie and the sex scenes are infrequent. Those looking for good erotic thrillers might well look elsewhere. ~ Linda Rasmussen, All Movie Guide

- Tracy Scoggins, Marc Singer, (more)
Vancouver gangsters battle each other for control of white slavery, drugs, and pornography in this low-budget crime drama. Phillip (Richard Dale) installs cameras in dressing rooms to film unsuspecting women then tracks them down to kill them. The film gives lingerie models plenty of scenes before the requisite gunplay ties up the loose ends of this confusing film. ~ Dan Pavlides, All Movie Guide

- Richard Phillip Dale, Angela Read, (more)
Autumn Born would have been long forgotten had it not been for its star. Playboy model Dorothy Stratten plays a young innocent who withstands the cruelties and sexual assaults of her nasty guardian. In one scene, she is handcuffed to a bed, and the camera stays fixed on her for what seems like forever as she struggles to break free. It's that kind of film. Prior to her ill-fated attempt to escape from her own real-life nasty guardian, Paul Snider, Stratten realized that this was the sort of fare she would have spent her life making if she stayed married to him. Anyone who has seen Bob Fosse's Star 80 (in which Autumn Born is alluded to under the title Wednesday's Child) will be all too familiar with the tragic outcome of the Stratten-Snider relationship. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
- Starring:
- Dorothy Stratten
