A remarkably self-deprecating entry in the USA network's off-and-on Ann Rule Presents series of fact-based films, The Stranger Beside Me details how Ann Rule (Barbara Hershey), a smart and savvy veteran crime reporter, allowed herself to be bamboozled by baby-faced serial killer Ted Bundy (Billy Campbell). Working side by side with Bundy as a volunteer at a Seattle rape crisis center in 1971, Rule had no clue that the personable and charming young man was responsible for one the most terrifying sex-murder sprees of the 20th century. Even after suspicion fell upon Bundy, Rule was initially willing to give him the benefit of the doubt -- as, alas, were so many law enforcement officials of the era. But once the truth was known, Rule embarked upon her own mea culpa campaign by going after Bundy with every resource at her disposal. Based on Rule's 1983 bestseller of the same name, The Stranger Beside Me originally aired March 21, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Filmed on-location in London, the FOX cop series Keen Eddie starred Mark Valley as Eddie Arlette, a New York City police detective. Disgraced and nearly dismissed after a spectacularly botched drug bust, Eddie was ordered to transfer to London's Scotland Yard so that he might rebuild his career from the ground up. Despite a daunting series of setbacks and blunders, Eddie managed to do his duty, with both himself and his Scotland Yard colleagues learning a lot more about one another's countries and cultures than they ever imagined. Sienna Miller co-starred as Eddie's reluctant flatmate, Fiona Bickerton. Others in the cast included Colin Salmon as Eddie's extremely judgmental Yard superior Supt. Johnson; Julian Rhind-Tutt as Eddie's deceptively prim-and-proper partner, Rudy (who, among other things, pretended to by married so he could attend sub-rosa wife-swapping parties); and a pair of animal regulars, Eddie's dog, Pete, and Fiona's cat, Duchess. Originally slated to debut in January 2003, Keen Eddie was shelved until June of that same year, reportedly to allow the producers to transform what had begun as a straight dramatic-action series into a semi-comedy. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Andre (Zeljko Ivanek) calls Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) on the cell phone he gave him, and tells him to go to Palmer's (Dennis Haysbert) hotel, and have Palmer unfreeze the family's assets. In response to her flirtations, Palmer arranges a private meeting with Patty (Tanya Wright) in a hotel room. Jack calls CTU and lets them know he's been released. Realizing that with Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) being held by the Drazens, Jack could be a threat to Palmer, Mason (Xander Berkeley) has the Secret Service increase security. Alexis (Misha Collins) is reunited with Victor (Dennis Hopper) and Andre (Zeljko Ivanek), just before he dies from his injuries. Andre angrily goes to kill Kim, but Victor stops him, as they still need her. Sherry (Penny Johnson Jerald) tells Patty why she wants her to seduce Palmer. Tony (Carlos Bernard) discovers that the schematics of the detention center were altered, and suggests to Nina (Sarah Clarke) that there may still be a traitor at CTU. Tony gets information suggesting that Mason accessed the plans, so Nina tells him to cut off Mason's network access. Jack calls Palmer to tell him he's on his way, and promises not to harm him. Palmer agrees to let Jack in. Palmer has his meeting with Patty, and confronts Sherry about her underhandedness. When Jack gets to the hotel, Palmer tells him that he can't unfreeze Victor's assets, and Victor knows it. In the nick of time, Jack realizes what Victor's up to. Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) calls Nina (Sarah Clarke) and lets her know he's being held hostage. Victor (Dennis Hopper) demands to be patched through to Alexis (Misha Collins) to prove that he's still alive, and that CTU has him. Sherry (Penny Johnson Jerald) tells Patty (Tanya Wright) that she won't be going to Dallas with Palmer, and that they can use some time apart. Mason gets the word from Chappelle (Paul Schulze). The whole Drazen business is an embarrassment to CTU, and they don't want to risk drawing more attention to it. Jack's on his own. Nina tells Teri (Leslie Hope) the bad news, and she goes straight to Mason, who tells her there's nothing he can do. Nina calls Palmer, and tells him about the whole situation. As CTU gets word about Kim's abduction, Palmer calls Mason, and promises to reward him for making the deal for Jack, after he's president. Victor kills a couple of friends to keep Jack under control. Mason lets Victor know the deal is on, and goes to get Alexis. Patty continues to flirt with Palmer, and it turns out that Sherry is encouraging her. Kim is brought to the Drazens, and a distraught Jack begs them to let her go. Andre (Zeljko Ivanek) brings Jack to a remote field, and leaves him there. Mason gives Alexis over to the Drazens. Inspired by actual events, The Price of a Broken Heart tells the tale of a marriage shattered, and a wife who refuses to play the victim. Joe (Timothy Carhart) and Dot (Park Overall) have been married for nineteen years: They've got three sons, a lovely home, and Joe's career is on the upswing. But Joe's office assistant Lynne (Laura Innes) has always wanted a perfect family of her own, and now she's convinced that her dream is finally within reach. With cool calculation, Lynne lures Joe into an extramarital affair that spans a passion-fueled three years. Eventually, Joe breaks down and reveals the affair to Dot. Enraged at the betrayal and determined to strike back at the women who tried to break up her family, Dot sues her husband's mistress for $1 million under an archaic North Carolina law known as "alienation of affection." The law was designed to protect husbands and wives from predatory home wreckers, but can it still be enforced in an era where fifty percent of marriages fail anyway? As the trial gets underway, Dot endures humiliation and the media frenzy in a noble bid to show Lynne just how strong true family ties can be. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

It is the 1960s, but Hal Kingswood (R.H. Thomson), the old-fashioned headmaster of a small school in British Colombia not far from Vancouver hasn't quite gotten hip to it yet. He won't even let his late-teen daughter Cleo (Tara Frederick) go to a concert alone with her boyfriend Dwayne (Gabe Khouth). Zoe (Aloka McLean) is Hal's youngest daughter, full of romantic ideas and idealistic notions, and she narrates most of this domestic drama. At school, a beloved teacher suddenly dies, and she is replaced by Anne-Marie Andrews (Michele-Barbara Pelletier), a stylish and charismatic younger woman from Quebec who immediately inspires Zoe to feats of imitation. However, Zoe is horrified to discover that she is not the only one who finds Anne-Marie inspiring: her father Hal is having an affair with her. This all comes to light when the family is together celebrating Christmas, and for a time it looks like everyone will split up. It doesn't help the family much when Cleo has announces that she is pregnant and isn't interested in participating in the outmoded institution of marriage. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Lots of guys used to dream about having a date with Marilyn Monroe, but three friends who are about to graduate from high school to go their separate ways try to make that fantasy a reality in this comedy, set in 1962. Roy (Jason Priestley), Ned (Gabriel Olds), and Scott (Jerry O'Connell) have been buddies since the age of six, when they were entered together in a Howdy Doody look-alike contest. With only a few weeks to go before they graduate from high school, Roy has impulsively joined the Army to get away from his abusive father, while Ned has discovered he's going to be a father, and Scott is still plagued by his pesky virginity. Wanting to enjoy their last few weeks of freedom, Roy "borrows" a wad of cash and a blue Galaxie 500 convertible from his former employers, repo men Arturo and Antonio Gallo (Kurt Fuller and Stephen Tobolowsky), and persuades his friends to join him as he heads to Hollywood. Roy wants to meet the woman of his dreams, Marilyn Monroe, whom he's learned is working on a new picture, Something's Got to Give. With the help of Roy's Uncle Harry (Joe Pantoliano), they locate Monroe's home and camp out at her gate, hoping to get a glimpse of the glamourous goddess. However, Roy breaks out a reefer to smoke while they attempt to stay up all night (tactical error number one: marijuana does not make you more alert!), and when she slips out without their noticing, the three end up on a mad chase to find Marilyn before she gets away. Meanwhile, the Gallo Brothers have noticed their car is gone, and they are determined to get it back, without much concern for the health or safety of the thief.
