For this third sequel to Charles Band's pointless but modestly successful Gremlins rip-off, the writers ignored the previous two installments and brought back the character of Jonathan Graves (Peter Liapis) from the original film, though inexplicably transforming him from a naïve dropout occultist to a streetwise cop. He is forced to do battle with his former girlfriend Alexandra (Stacie Randall), who has escaped from an asylum and is busily conducting human sacrifices in order to summon a demon once created by Jonathan's Satanic dabblings. The title creeps are shoved even further to the background than the previous chapters -- not a bad thing, really, since the effects department still hasn't managed to make them look like anything but inarticulate latex puppets covered in goo. Sadly, what's left is a tired cop-vs.-serial-killer scenario that's even less convincing than the monsters themselves. Z-movie journeyman (and Roger Corman favorite) Jim Wynorski injects the usual dose of titillation and B-movie in-jokes, with the expected results. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

In this tale of adventure and espionage, Charlie Case (Kristie Phillips) is a star gymnast whose father, Richard Charles (Lance Henriksen), is an international spy. Richard has discovered the launching codes to a number of Ukrainian missiles, which he's trying to keep from falling into the hands of enemy terrorists. Charlie unwittingly becomes involved in Richard's schemes, and when a Soviet agent (Sarah Douglas) threatens the safety of her mother and brother in attempt to get the codes, she must leap into action to save their lives. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A more straightforward horror film than the darkly comic Return of the Living Dead Part II (1988), this third chapter in the "Living Dead" saga was directed by Brian Yuzna and is quite similar plot-wise to his earlier film, Bride of Re-Animator (1990). J. Trevor Edmond and Mindy Clarke star as Curt Reynolds and Julie Walker, a young couple in love. Curt's father is Col. John Reynolds (Kent McCord), a scientist working on a top-secret project at a nearby military compound. When Curt steals his dad's security pass and sneaks Julie into the base, they discover that the project involves bringing corpses back to life using the powerful gas Trioxin, responsible for events in the previous films. The military hopes to use the mindless, flesh-consuming zombies as weapons, but the experiment goes gruesomely awry. Later, Julie is killed in an accident on Curt's motorcycle and the grief-stricken boyfriend brings her to the base and exposes her to the gas. As she begins craving human flesh, Curt must try to keep her alive while also facing down a local street gang he's unintentionally crossed, as well as the soldiers seeking Julie, led by his father. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

This sexually-tinged supernatural thriller involves the owner of an art gallery (Mark Hamill) who falls victim to the seductive and dangerous wiles of a coven of suburban witches -- the kind who brew their magic potions in the microwave -- when he enters a torrid affair with the smoldering Cassandra (Appolonia). When their relationship is threatened by a half-hearted devotion to his long-suffering girlfriend (Amanda Wyss), Hamill finds himself the tormented victim of a barrage of hexes, which run the gamut from horrific hallucinations to subversion of his will... and ultimately lead to madness and murder. This is a well-crafted film, but the potential for steamy eroticism is strangely underplayed for a film packaged as an "erotic thriller" -- no doubt due to an obvious lack of sexual chemistry between the two bed-wrestling leads. Perceptive viewers will probably beat the "surprise" climax to the punch. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
