Produced in Canada for a Canadian and U.S. viewership, the weekly, hour-long drama series Fast Track starred Keith Carradine as Richard Beckett. A former racecar driver, Beckett had become a doctor, working almost exclusively along the speedway circuit and tending to the injuries of his fellow motorists. Naturally, Beckett also got involved with various domestic crises, and occasionally put in time as an amateur detective. The impressive supporting cast included Duncan Regehr as Christian Chandler Jr., Tristan Rogers as Harry, Fred Williamson as Lowell Carter, and Sebastian Spence as Stevie Servine. Produced by Alliance Atlantis, Fast Track unveiled the first of its 23 episodes on August 3, 1997, telecast simultaneously on Canadian and American cable TV. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

As an ambitious group of independent filmmakers set out to shoot a movie about a world overrun by ghoulish mutants following a nuclear holocaust, the special effects artists who created the grisly effects for the feature take viewers behind the scenes to show just how they make the murderous mayhem onscreen appear so nauseatingly realistic. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Made for Canadian television, Lost is a sometimes grueling tale of courage and perserverance. The film is based on the true story of three men whose boat capsizes in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. For 74 days, the men cling to their overturned boat, hoping against hope for salvation. Special attention is given one of the men, a religious near-fanatic who believes that their peril is a test from God. Kenneth Walsh, Michael Hogan and Charles Joliffe play the three protagonists, while Helen Shaver and Linda Goranson portray the women who agonizingly wait for their return. Though unrated, Lost is much too tense for younger viewers. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Totally plotless, Neon Palace is a Canadian-made montage of 1950s and 1960s pop culture. Director Peter Rowe has assembled a dizzying parade of film clips, commercials, songs and TV news bites to chronicle American fads and foibles. The point of all this is to show how the Great Unwashed Public is easily led (and misled) by hype. So what else is new? ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
