Covert Action, badly directed by Romolo Guerrieri, is a predictable, dull espionage drama which concerns an ex-CIA agent (David Janssen) hunted by killers because of a book he has written about his experiences in the agency. While Janssen give a passable performance, the film is poorly plotted and badly directed. Shot on location in Greece, the lovely scenery is the film's only redeeming quality. ~ Linda Rasmussen, Rovi

Made for television, The Life and Times of Edwin Alonzo Boyd is a fact-based study of 1940s criminal activity, Canadian style. Gordon Pinsent stars as Boyd, leader of a notorious gang of thieves, cutthroats and pluguglies. Featured in the cast are Mary Ann McDonald as Boyd's wife and Peter Glen as "The Law". Director Les Rose adopts a semi-documentary approach, utilizing the big-band music of the era to create the proper atmosphere. The teleplay was based upon The Boyd Gang, a book by M. Lamb and Barry Pearson. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

In this uninspired attempt at teen comedy, Tim (Michael Biehn) has returned home in disgrace as far as his dad is concerned -- he was expelled from his military academy. The next thing Tim knows he is fighting off a gang of bikers that are terrorizing the high schoolers, and worse yet, he is falling for "The Bull's" girlfriend Angie (Patti D'Arbanville). The Bull (Tony Rosato) whose name belies, of all things, an okay guy underneath all that leather and severely mangled diction, is the leader of the bikers. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Weak dialogue and a muddy plot undermine this crime drama about the Mafia's attempt to not only fix a championship fight, but to have the defending champion killed off in the ring. Frank Renzetti (Tony Curtis) is the ring owner who contacts the Mafia with this idea and Blake (Richard Gabourie) is his nemesis. Blake is a violent, mean cop who is rather misogynist but at least he hates the bad guys. The problem is that for the viewers as well as Blake, it is very difficult to tell who the bad guys are. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

A small-time athlete is suddenly confronted by the real world in this thoughtful comedy drama from Canada. Rick (Keir Dullea) is the star player on a semi-pro hockey team in a small town on the Canadian prairie. While Rick has to hold down a job in a hardware store to pay his rent, his skills on the ice make him a local hero; he never has to pay for a beer or a meal if he doesn't want to, and he makes as much time as he wants with a number of women, though his loyal girlfriend Loretta (Elizabeth Ashley) is still convinced he'll settle down and marry her one day. To go along with his minor celebrity, Rick has constructed an outsized persona for himself, wearing a cowboy hat, carrying a pistol, and grooming himself in the model of Sheriff Matt Dillon from Gunsmoke. But Rick's world begins to fall apart when he first loses his job and then gets word that his team's owners can't afford to keep the franchise going. After the team's final game turns into an angry brawl and Rick is rejected by Joanna (Dayle Haddon), the college-age daughter of the team's manager, Rick takes a final stand in a foolish bid to prove himself. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
