This fast-paced film stars (Conrad Nichols) as the tough Captain Williams, head of a crack commando squad who goes into Afghanistan to save the U.S.S.R. -- and indirectly, the U.S. -- from some very bad publicity. A journalist and his daughter have evidence that the Russians are using biological and chemical weapons in their war in Afghanistan. The unit of five commandos smuggle themselves into Afghanistan through its neighbor Iran, bribing the leaders of that country with some spare parts for its war planes (shades of Iran-Contra!). Once inside the country they discover that the journalist has already died from exposure to nerve gas, and his daughter is already getting sick. Williams starts to guess that they are all being set up because everything is going just a little too well, and he adjusts his plans accordingly. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Similar to the 1991 Dead Again starring Kenneth Branagh, this story of reincarnation and murder also features two couples who meet again in a new lifetime. Brooke Ashley (Jaclyn Smith) is a ballerina and Michael Richardson (Nigel Terry) is her lover, and they both perish in a fire that destroys their home. Fifty years go by, and Gregory Thomas (Terry), a screenwriter, sees an old film clip of Ashley who could easily pass for his fiancee Maggie Rogers (Smith). Intrigued by this coincidence, he starts to research a screenplay on the ballerina's life, and to help get more material, he visits a medium (Shelley Winters) who used to know her. The medium reveals that Gregory is the reincarnation of the dead Richardson -- which means the former couple is back together again. Before any celebration is in order, some of the increasingly sinister mystery of how and why the couple died in the long-ago fire has to be cleared up. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

In this low-budget actioner, Conrad Nichols is Rush, a superhero, a kind of jungle Rambo, determined to free the slave laborers who work for a villainous ruler (Gordon Mitchell) in a combination oil refinery and greenhouse. The difficulty he faces is that the laborers are afraid to return to the outside world -- a nuclear holocaust happened just 10 years earlier, and they worry about radiation sickness. It does not matter, apparently, that the oil refinery and greenhouse are already in the open air. Rush explains that everything is green again and radiation-free (an interesting concept), but between their doubts and the ruler's minions out to get him, life is not easy. Budget restrictions kept special effects and costuming to a minimum, making the choices for a "futuristic" look somewhat strange (the workers wear plastic over regular clothes, Rush wears body gloss), but most fans of this genre are willing to overlook these typical drawbacks. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Philippe Leroy stars as power boat racer Marco Breda, who has been struck with amnesia following brain surgery for a boating accident. While Marco recuperates at his remote villa, he begins romancing a young woman named Terry (Rossana Yanni), leading his jealous wife, Monica (Elga Andersen), to instigate a fatal struggle. Terry and Marco dump Monica's body in the ocean while people start getting murdered left and right, mostly by strangulation (although Marco's friend, Tommy [Franco Ressel], is graphically disembowelled). A police inspector shows up, and Marco is shocked to see Monica too, alive and well. Monica had been plotting with Marco's friend, Burt (Ivan Rassimov), to drive him insane, and the plot works, as Marco drives his car off a cliff shortly thereafter. What Monica doesn't know is that her double-cross wasn't so well advised, being that she is being triple-crossed by Burt and his mistress, Terry, who were also plotting to kill Marco and were using her to do it. Understandably upset by this turn of events, Monica kills them both, but that's when the real terror begins, as a mysterious stranger stalks her while she is alone in the house. Franco Fantasia and Carla Mancini co-star. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi
