Except for the millionaire film producer, who undoubtedly only gets what he deserves, in this bedroom comedy almost everyone else on a luxury cruise liner headed for Mykonos seems to be having a good time with someone new. Doria (Jeanne Moreau) is a famed but aging opera singer whose career is necessarily drawing to a close: she is the top-billed entertainer for the voyage. Olga (Désirée Nosbusch) is the film producer's latest nubile discovery, Eric (Daniel Mesguich) is a journalist with a way with words and a weird new wife, and Andreas (Anthony Delon) is a handsome young man who is "available." He's quite available, actually, since he's a gigolo, but he finds himself quite passionate about his newest client. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This "policier" was co-written by producer and star Alain Delon with director Jose Pinheiro. It tells the story of a group of right-wing cops have begun carrying out vigilante justice on drug dealers and other crime figures who might otherwise avoid punishment for their misdeeds. Police inspector Grindel (Delon) understands the feelings which motivate these deeds, but does not approve. However, he is not highly motivated to put an end to the group's activities until it begins to appear that they are now attacking fellow cops for reasons which are unclear. Grindel sets to work to uncover the culprits, and in a climactic scene, confronts his colleague Scatti (Michel Serrault). Delon, a familiar figure in French cinema, has a great many films to his credit not only as an actor, but as a producer, director and screenwriter. This film marks his return to the screen as an actor after a three year absence. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

The sentiments of producer, co-writer, and star Alain Delon provide the particular slant in this routine thriller about vigilante justice over other vigilantes. The angry hero (Delon) leaves France in a fury because of a technicality in the justice system that failed to convict the murderers of his wife. After lazing away his days in a Congolese village, sleeping with whatever woman he chooses or playing cards, he finds out that vigilantes have murdered his daughter because they are intent on ridding France of undesirables -- which include delinquents (a category mistakenly attributed to her) and North Africans, as well as drug dealers. Now really out of control, revenge propels the bereaved father to return home and murder the vigilantes one by one, maiming them first to watch them suffer. Justice, of course, is too blind to catch up with him. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Based on an autobiographical novel by Marie Cardinal, this well-acted psychological drama details the tormented relationship between Marie (Nicole Garcia) and her mother, stemming from Marie's childhood on their estate in Algeria. The mother, Eliane (Marie-Christine Barrault) had lost a child before Marie was born, and was consumed with hatred for her husband who was carrying tuberculosis and may have been the cause of the child's death. That hatred was never resolved, and Marie grew up in a bitter and strained household. As both women grow older, Marie marries and raises a family while her mother sinks ever deeper into anger, frustration, poverty, and isolated despair. She vents her destructive emotions on her daughter and is completely resistent to her daughter's attempts to help her, to make her life better. At the beginning of the film, Marie has been hemorrhaging and collapses on the Metro - but instead of following the advice of her doctor (and uncle) and going through surgery, she goes into psychoanalysis, where her past slowly comes to light over a three-year period. The sessions with the psychologist and her on-going relationship with her mother unfold as the events in the film. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

At that point, one of the children has a bad accident, causing the family members intense anxiety, and as a result, the perspective on their differences starts to change. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In this hour-long film, the legendary British rock group, Pink Floyd perform (without an audience) in an ancient Roman amphitheater in Pompeii. With good sound, good photography and a very scenic setting, this 1972 film is a must for fans of the group and the music they pioneered. By that time, Pink Floyd had recorded four albums: The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Ummagumma, Relics, and Meddle. This film is more or less a precursor to the "rock-videos" of a later era, as it has no documentary aspect: it's an all-music movie. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
