From Mystery Science Theater masterminds Kevin Murphy, Mike Nelson, and Bill Corbett comes a follow-up series that finds the quick-witted threesome skewering some of the worst movies in Hollywood history. The first flick on the Film Crew bill is Hollywood After Dark - a 1968 drama starring Rue McClanahan as a struggling young actress desperate to get her big break on the silver screen. The naïve young actresses' trip to the top hits an unexpected detour, however, when she is drawn into the sordid world of underground stripping by her lecherous producers. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Mystery Science Theater 3000 masterminds Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett reunite to skewer yet another notoriously outrageous B-movie classic as The Wild Women of Borneo receives the same sarcastic treatment afforded to such previous Film Crew releases as Killers from Space and Hollywood After Dark. Mother Nature and Father Time had never been so cruel as they were when they conducted their deplorable experiment on Wongo Island. The beauties that live in this lush tropical paradise have been led to believe that mankind is a collection of horrific apes like the savage creatures that inhabit the other side of their island. When a handsome prince from a neighboring island arrives to pay the girls a visit, however, the women gradually begin to wonder if they are being purposefully misled. It appears that all men from the prince's island are as handsome as this new arrival, and now as the beastly Wongo males prepare to select their mates the stage is set for a savage confrontation. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
Jonathan (Kevin Corrigan) is a computer expert who is a bit shy and lonely, though he's recently begun courting a schoolteacher named Judy (Amy Ryan). One night, Jonathan encounters a Latina prostitute named Roberta (Daisy Rojas), whom he's convinced he knew as a child. Jonathan is immediately obsessed with Roberta, though not for sex, which she finds more puzzling than reassuring. Jonathan soon moves Roberta into his apartment, begins teaching her office skills, even asking Judy to help take care of her. Roberta is not sure what to make of Jonathan's improvement program, her short-tempered pimp is decidedly unhappy with this arrangement, and Jonathan's friends try to convince him he's making a mistake. This socially and politically charged melodrama was shown in competition at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The made for television movie Munster's Scary Little Christmas, created three decades after the demise of the original series, concerns son Eddie missing his home in Transylvania. The third incarnation of TV's gloriously ghoulish "Munster" family appears in this made-for-TV movie, originally telecast December 17, 1996 by the Fox network. That lovable pint-sized werewolf Eddie Munster (Bug Hall) feels depressed as the Yuletide holiday approaches, yearning for a "Transylvania Christmas" while being stuck in Southern California. Eddie's Frankensteinish dad Herman Munster (Sam McMurray) tries to cheer the boy up by arranging for a Christmas celebration in the tradition of the Old Country. To top things off, vampirish Grandpa Munster (Sandy Baron) extends the Holiday cheer by giving Santa Claus (Mark Mitchell) a magic potion--which, unfortunately, is swiped by a pair of larcenous elves (Ed Gale, Arturo Gil). In other developments, Lily Munster (Ann Magnuson) enters a house-decorating contest (love those designer cobwebs!), and several other copyrighted Universal Pictures monsters make fleeting cameo appearances. A critical assessment of The Munsters' Scary Little Christmas is virtually impossible: Either one loves the Munsters, or one doesn't--and that's the name of that dirge! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The cult television series Mystery Science Theatre 3000 transfers its brand of science-fiction wisecracking to the big screen with relatively few changes. The concept is the same in series and film: an innocent man (Michael J. Nelson, playing Mike Nelson) is stranded in outer space by a mad scientist, who subjects the poor slob to "experiments" that involve watching the worst movies ever made. In order to survive this cinematic torture, Mike and his two companions, sarcastic robots Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot, mercilessly heckle the film in self-defense. In this case, the target is This Island Earth, a 1950s sci-fi opus that, despite its silly makeup effects and stilted dialogue, actually stands slightly above the usual Mystery Science Theatre fare. Otherwise, despite the larger budget, the film plays as a shorter version of the television show, with the robots and sets purposefully maintaining their ingenious, homemade look. Despite its loyalty to the original concept, many long-time fans found the film less sharp than the series, and the cinematic version failed to attract many viewers beyond the original audience. Nevertheless, it serves as a good introduction for the uninitiated, demonstrating the show's combination of pop culture deconstruction and intelligent, playful humor. ~ Judd Blaise, All Movie Guide

This installment of Mystery Science Theater 3000 was first shown on November 25, 1993. The feature is The Beginning of the End, a black-and-white atomic monster movie from 1957 directed by Bert I. Gordon, who also made The Amazing Colossal Man. Peter Graves -- later the host of A&E's Biography -- stars as nuclear scientist Dr. Ed Wainwright, who tries to stop giant mutant insects from destroying a California shooting location that purports to be Chicago. Peggie Castle is girl reporter Audrey Ames who follows the story. On the Satellite of Love, Mike Nelson and the bots tell grasshopper jokes while Crow displays his latest screenplay "Peter Graves Goes to the University of Minnesota." ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide

In episode number 515, originally aired in 1993, the 1950s short Cheating inspires Crow to cheat on Mike's essay test, while Dr. Forrester tests out a new hairstyle. After the short, Mike and the 'bots wreak havoc on the Wild World of Batwoman, involving skimpily clad bat-girls who dance around the movie looking for a plot. A hearing aid falls into the wrong hands and threatens to destroy a narrative already in shambles, and on the Satellite of Love, Tom Servo and Crow try to "out-shun" one another. Meanwhile, Mike and the scientists exchange inventions on the cutting and styling edge. ~ Sarah Sloboda, All Movie Guide

In space, no one can hear you make fun of bad science fiction movies from the 1950s and 60s! But that never stopped Mike Nelson (Michael J. Nelson) and his robot crewmates Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy) and Crow (Trace Beaulieu) as they cheerfully deconstructed some of the lesser examples of the American cinema each week on the TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000. On this episode, Mike and his pals are treated to a screening of Eegah!, starring Richard Kiel as a caveman who somehow comes back to life and makes life miserable for some fun-loving teenagers. Astronaut Mike Nelson (Michael J. Nelson) is trapped in outer space with only his mechanical friends Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy) and Crow (Trace Beaulieu) for company. So what better way to kill the time than watch bad movies and crack jokes about them? That's the premise of the TV series Mystery Science Theater 3000, and in this installment, Mike, Tom, and Crow take a long, hard look at The Brain That Wouldn't Die, in which a slightly crazy scientist tries to find a new body for his recently-decapitated girlfriend (whose head he's managed to conveniently keep alive in a pan on his kitchen table). The DVD release features both the MST3K episode with Mike and his friends commenting on the action, and the original version of The Brain That Wouldn't Die in uncut and uninterrupted form (allowing you to come up with your own snide comments!). ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

In the aptly titled, Blood Hook, a mentally ill war veteran becomes a crazed killer hunting teenagers and killing them in a variety of inventive and very bloody ways during a local annual fishing tournament. This routine, very bloody teenage slasher thriller, directed by Jim Mallon, attempts to inject humor into the routine formula with uneven results. Blood Hook has little to recommend it other than some lovely Wisconsin scenery, but for fans of the genre, Blood Hook might be a refreshing change of pace. ~ Linda Rasmussen, All Movie Guide
