Two washed-up snowboarders hatch an ingenious scheme to restore their reputations and get back on top of the snowboarding scene in this chilly comedy starring Tom Green and Dave England. Back in the 1990s, you couldn't pick up an extreme sports magazine without seeing glossy pictures of Max (England) and Eddie shredding it up on the snowy half-pipe. But these days things are different; a decade of reckless behavior has left them terminally hung over and hopelessly off-balance. Max and Eddie now work as lift operators at Stubby Peaks ski hill, and they hate their lives. Realizing that the only way to regain their status as kings of the hill is to take the top prize at the upcoming snowboarding event, the two longtime pals decide to form the ultimate snowboard team. But their old arch-nemesis Kingsley Brown (Green) is now the head of the National Snowboard Association, and he's seen the chaos these two boozy buddies are capable of causing. In order to keep Max and Eddie out of the sport for good, he blackballs their camp with all of his power. Roddy Piper stars in this crime thriller as Nick Ford, a Seattle cop whose partner is killed in a shoot-out in Chinatown. Nick is determined to capture the killer, known to the police only as Tiger. However, when Wu Yin (Han Soo Ong), an investigator from the People's Republic of China arrives in town to assist in drug enforcement efforts, Nick knows he's seen him before -- at the shootout where his partner was killed. Inasmuch as National Lampoon magazine was on its last legs in 1994, the title National Lampoon's Last Resort was all too prophetic. The film takes place at, yes, a summer resort, which is threatened with extinction by (in unison, please) Evil Land Developers. Can the Corey boys -- Haim and Feldman -- save the camp? You might get some incidental fun by predicting precisely when the first bathroom joke is about to occur (it doesn't take long). Prolific actor-stuntman Conrad Palmisano directed this average action-thriller about the owner of an inner-city gym. Earl (Paul Coufos) happens to also be a skilled fighter, and when he is pressured by real-estate developers to close the gym, he fights in order to save it. Former Saturday Night Live regular Tony Rosato co-stars with Irene Cara, who sings a cover version of "She Works Hard for the Money," as well as portraying Earl's love interest, Simone. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide
