Art professor Jill Thompson (Daphne Zuniga) receives the shock of her life when the police inform her that her husband has just been murdered. You see, up to that moment, Jill had been convinced that her hubby had died ten years earlier! Investigating this phenomenon on her own, our heroine diligently digs into her husband's past and uncovers a virtual labyrinth of lies, infidelity, embezzlement and worse! A few interesting Hitchcockian touches, plus an occasional exhibit of artwork created by the film's costar Duncan Regehr), adds a bit of zing to this overly familiar "Had she but known" yarn. Produced for cable's Lifetime channel, Secret Lives originally aired on July 18, 2005. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
"Earth can be darker than space," so read the tagline for the ambitious cable sci-fi/fantasy series Odyssey 5. Returning from a lengthy mission in deep space, the crew of a shuttle discovered that they cannot go home because there is no home to go to: The Earth had been destroyed by a huge explosion. A mysterious alien called "the Seeker" (played in the two-hour pilot episode by John Neville) offered the crew an opportunity to prevent the catastrophe and save humankind by traveling five years back in time. There was only one hitch: The crew members were not their "present" selves in the past, but had all grown five years younger, and were still mired in the personal problems that plagued them at this earlier stage: One of the crewpersons was stuck in an unhappy marriage, another was weighed down by a drug dependency, still another was a pimply faced, neurotic high school kid, and so on. The principal characters were the Taggarts -- Chuck (Peter Weller), Neil (Christopher Gorham), Paige (Gina Clayton), and Marc (Kenneth Mitchell) -- and Kurt Mendel (Sebastian Roche), Angela Perry (Tamara Craig Thomas), and Sarah Forbes (Leslie Silva). Odyssey 5 launched its 19-episode Showtime cable network run on June 21, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

In flashback, he recalls his role in a Commonwealth effort to extradite the Mobius despot Ferrin (Alex Green), whom Hunt killed in defiance of orders -- but why? "Forced Perspective" first aired on February 19, 2001. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Produced in Canada, but first broadcast on French television in 2001, the weekly, 60-minute sci-fi series Starhunter top-billed Michael Paré as interplanetary bounty hunter Dante Montana. In addition to hopping from one planet to another in pursuit of his profession, Dante was also dedicated to finding his son, who'd been kidnapped a decade earlier. Along the way, the hero was alternately impressed and depressed by the way in which Humanity and the Universe were constantly changing and re-inventing themselves. Premiering in Canada over The Movie Network on May 8, 2002, Starhunter was syndicated to the United States on September 9 of that same year. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The former lead singer of Blood, Sweat and Tears, David Clayton-Thomas returned to his native Canada to star in this eponymously titled half-hour variety series. Created by George Mendeluk and David Slabotsky, the program was built almost exclusively around the talents of its star, with little reliance upon guest performers, though a cast of regular backup singers and musicians was featured. Debuting June 25, 1973, The David Clayton-Thomas Show was evidently designed as a "filler," or perhaps as a trial run, for a longer-running series. Whatever the case, the producers pulled the plug after a mere three episodes on July 9. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
