Nicolas Joël directed for the stage this 2007 production of Giuseppe Verdi's 1862 opera La Forza del Destino. The work tells of the South American nobleman Don Alvaro and his tragic love for the socialite Donna Leonora, which ends with Alvaro entering monastic life. This version stars Duccio dal Monte as Il Marchese di Calatrava, Violeta Urmana as Donna Leonora, Carlo Guelfi as Don Carlo di Vargas and Marcello Giordani as Don Alvaro.
