Hunter: Return to Justice is the second made-for-TV movie based on the popular cop series Hunter, which originally ran from 1984 to 1991. Fred Dryer returns to the role of LAPD detective Rick Hunter, whom, as we soon discover, may be older but is no mellower. In fact, the film begins with a burst of gunplay that would put Dirty Harry to shame. As the result of a bad drug bust which cost the lives of a few innocent civilians, Hunter is put "on leave" by the department and advised to take a good long rest. He heads down to San Diego, current home of his former police partner, Dee Dee McCall (Stephanie Kramer), now the fiancée of fabulous, wealthy mayoral candidate Roger Prescott (Sam Hennings). If Hunter truly expects any R&R, he is in for a shock: Prescott turns out to be an ex-KGB agent, placing himself and Dee Dee in the cross-hairs of the Russian mafia. Filmed almost entirely on location, Hunter: Return to Justice played to excellent ratings when it first aired November 16, 2002, on NBC. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The second of the Dukes of Hazzard "reunion" films (the first was broadcast in 1997), this one features five regulars from the original series: John Schneider and Tom Wopat as fast-driving Luke and Bo Duke, Catherine Bach as their leggy cousin Daisy Duke, and James Best as inept lawmen Rosco P. Coltrane and Enos Strate. Hoping to raise money for a new Hazzard County hospital, the Duke boys pile into the General Lee and head for Hollywood, there to sell recordings of their singing efforts. Upon arrival in Tinseltown, Luke and Bo are robbed of both the records and the money earned from a contract. In their efforts to retrieve the stolen booty, the superannuated heroes run afoul of a cartel of Russian gangsters and international loan sharks -- and of course, are continually flummoxed by Cletus Hogg (Rick Hurst), the son of their late and unlamented nemesis Boss Hogg. Amazingly, the film contains no car chases and only one brief fistfight; evidently the producers felt that the singing of stars John Schneider and Tom Wopat was attraction enough. This TV drama series, produced and scripted by Irwin Winkler and Rob Cowan, is adapted from their feature film, The Net (1995), a thriller with Sandra Bullock as reclusive Venice, California computer expert Angela Bennett, whose life is threatened. Brooke Langton (Melrose Place) portrays Angela Bennett in this new interpretation. During the debut TV series episode, Angela is puzzled by a cryptic computer message on her screen and goes out jogging. On her return, she discovers her bank account closed, her credit cards canceled, and her identity wiped and switched. Files show that she has been given the name Elizabeth, and state secrets are now stored on her hard disk -- which explains why the feds capture her at gunpoint. A stranger, Trelawney (Joseph Bottoms), engineers her release, but his true program is a kill file. After navigating to the info he wants, he intends to delete Angela right out of existence. Her only hope is Sorcerer (voice of Tim Curry), a helpful but anonymous voice from cyberspace. Dr. Westlake/Darkman (Arnold Vosloo) is up to his old tricks, stealing from the bad and keeping for himself while still trying to perfect his synthetic skin which only lasts 99 minutes in the light. After stealing from industrialist and mobster/drug dealer Peter Rooker (Jeff Fahey), Westlake is approached by Dr. Bridget Thorne (Darlanne Fluegel) who is engaged to perform an operation to relieve his pain, but instead she implants in his brain a special device that enables his enemies to control him by inducing unbearable pain. With the help of double-crossing Dr. Thorne, Rooker wants to create a new drug based on Darkman's research. But Darkman strikes back by infiltrating Rooker's gang and his life. Darkman even starts to feel drawn to Rooker's wife Angela (Roxann Biggs-Dawson) and her daughter, who are neglected by the real Rooker. But in disguise, Darkman is able to cling to a normal life, posing as a family man. Even though this sequel was filmed before Darkman II: The Return of Durant, it was ultimately decided that it should be bumped back to part three. This direct-to-video sequel is however, in many ways, superior to the first sequel. Fahey makes an excellent villain combining the best of what made Larry Drake and Colin Friels so enjoyable in the original. Vosloo still can't capture the essence and power of Liam Neeson's character portrayal, but he does a good enough job. Fans of the saga will go feverish over this sequel and others with find it fun as well. ~ Sean D. MacLaggan, All Movie Guide

Marilu Henner stars as a stalking victim in this made-for-TV movie based on a true story. Henner stars as Nancy Conn, a woman who becomes the obsession of stalker Richard Mark Ellard (Doug Savant). After she and her cousin are targeted by Ellard, both are savagely attacked and left for dead. Conn survives, Ellard is jailed, and over time Conn slowly puts her life back together and begins to heal physically and mentally. Astonishingly though, Ellard comes up for early parole and Conn makes it her mission to keep Ellard locked up for his crimes. ~ Bernadette McCallion, All Movie Guide

Darkman is up to his old tricks. He's robbing from the criminals and keeping for himself so he can further perfect his synthetic skin which dissolves after 99 minutes in the light. His old arch-nemesis, Robert Durrant (Larry Drake) returns, having survived the helicopter crash in the first film. Durant attempts to rebuild his crumbling empire by devising a new particle gun to sell on the market. After Durant kills a young scientist for his warehouse, Darkman goes on a rampage, vowing to destroy Durant once and for all. Darkman concocts masks of his enemies and infiltrates Durant's gang, turning everyone on themselves. This sequel is above the typical direct-to-video quality and director May has captured Raimi's comic-book style, but the energy that propelled the original is sorely missing here. Welcome back is Drake who once again astonishes with a gleefully maniacal performance, rightfully stealing the show. Replacing the title character is Arnold Vosloo, who coolly plays Darkman without the enraged melodramatics Liam Neeson brought to his portrayal of the tormented hero. This sequel was actually filmed after Darkman III: Die, Darkman, Die but was released on video first despite the fact that Universal thought it looked good enough to release into theaters. ~ Sean D. Kennedy in this made-for-TV drama that speculates on a love affair that is rumored to have occurred between the two. The film examines how Monroe's death may have resulted from her knowing too much about Kennedy's private affairs, as well as their mutual links to organized crime. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
