Paata Burchuladze Movies

The Bayerische Staatsoper mounted this 2007 production of Modest Mussorgsky's 1880 opera Khovanshchina. Designed by Dmitri Tcherniakov, it stars Paata Burchuladze as Prince Ivan Khovansky, Klaus Florian Vogt as Prince Andrei Khovansky, John Daszak as Prince Vasily Golitsyn and Boyar Shaklovity as Valery Alexejev. Considered one of Mussorgsky's greatest pieces, this production of Khovanshchina was conducted under the baton of Claudio Abbado and performed by the world-renowned Vienna State Opera. Luciano Pavarotti, often cited as the world's finest operatic tenor, stars in this lavish production of Giuseppe Verdi's classic opera. Set in ancient Egypt, Aida concerns the romantic entanglement of military leader Radames, the beautiful Princess Amneris, and Aida, her slave from Ethiopia. Radames and Aida are in love with each other, but Amneris loves him too; what Radames does not know is that he has to choose between two Princesses, because Aida also comes from royal blood.
