Ron Jeremy Movies
Possibly the most well-known pornographic performer in the history of the biz, rotund ladies' man Ron Jeremy (aka "the Hedgehog") has appeared in over 1,500 adult features since his debut in 1978. His playful onscreen demeanor, as well as his instantly recognizable moustache and gut, have earned him popularity not only with consumers of pornography but mainstream audiences, too, making his name shorthand for comedians and pundits who need to reference the adult film industry. Born into an upper-middle class Jewish family in New York, Jeremy studied theatre and education in college and taught special-ed classes while waiting for his big break. To this end, he performed in off-Broadway plays and did stand-up comedy. In 1978, a girlfriend sent a photo of him to Playgirl magazine and he was chosen to appear as a centerfold. Jeremy's above-average endowment was exposed to the world and he was offered a part in the hardcore film Tigresses and Other Maneaters. From there a number of titles followed, even as his thin frame bulked up over the years, and he emerged as a good-natured everyman in a field crowded with arrogant, handsome male performers. The puckish pornster was a hit with women who responded to his cuddly charm, men who identified with his average looks, and devotees of the bizarre who appreciated his ability to fellate himself (a talent he displays in films like Inside Seka and Fresh Meat). During the 1980s, Jeremy began directing adult films; perhaps his most notorious was the 1994 feature John Wayne Bobbitt: Uncut, a starring vehicle for the man whose real-life wife sliced off his penis in a fit of revenge for spousal abuse (it was surgically reattached, though special prostoglandin injections were required on the set for Bobbitt to perform in a professional manner). Jeremy has appeared in more mainstream films than the garden variety porn actor, although his small roles have often been cut by distributors who fear that his notoriety might damage a picture. What remains are generally jokey, self-referential cameos (such as his appearances in Orgazmo and Meet Wally Sparks), as well as his work as a consultant for 9 1/2 Weeks and the porn-themed Boogie Nights. ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide

Director Adam Fields pays homage to such sci-fi classics as Alien and The Thing with this tongue-in-cheek horror comedy about a snowbound porno film crew being stalked by an evil, body-jumping alien. A blizzard has blown into town, leaving the crew of an adult film hopelessly stranded in the middle of nowhere. To make matters worse, a menacing monster from space has just arrived, too, and it's looking for a warm place to hide out. More than forty years after musical superstar Paul McCartney proposed marriage to her on live television, onetime ABC reporter Ruth Anson sets out to see if the famed former Beatle is willing to make good on his offer, only to find her journey complicated by the opportunistic filmmaker seeking to cash-in on the current reality craze. Anson was covering the "teen beat" for ABC news when, in August of 1965, she sat down for a brief interview The Beatles. At one point in the interview, Anson asked McCartney whether he had any plans for marriage. Much to her surprise, the teen idol responded by stating, "No, unless you'll marry me now." At the time Anson simply laughed the proposal off; decades later, she's determined to bring "closure" to the situation by tracking McCartney down and asking whether he was serious. Mark Cushman is a filmmaker in search of his breakthrough project, and he believes that by turning Anson's adventure into a documentary he'll quickly move on to bigger and better things. Over the course of the production, however, Cushman quickly begins to realize that his "serious documentary" simply won't be that marketable. The Solution: take a tip from reality television, and use a bit of creative editing in order to manipulate the project into something slightly more entertaining. Inevitably recalling the shenanigans of Tom Green and Sasha Baron Cohen's Ali G, Canadian comedian Nardwuar the Human Serviette is essentially a provocateur who built his career out of shocking and offending politicians, actors, musicians, and other noteworthy public figures by pummeling them with outrageous and bizarre questions. Nardwuar particularly specializes in skewering anyone with an aura of self-righteous dignity or importance. Like Green, he rose to celebrity through the tunnels of public access television; the release Nardwuar the Human Serviette: Welcome to My Castle presents a "best of" compilation of interview footage from Nardwuar's 1990s local access series, in which he does Q&A with such guests as Pierre Eliot Trudeau, Ron Jeremy, Timothy Leary, Gerald Ford, Nirvana, Tony Robbins and many others. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Better Luck Tomorrow and Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift director Justin Lin takes a comic look at a longstanding bit of cinema mythology with this mockumentary exploring the making of Bruce Lee's unfinished final film Game of Death. When martial arts star Lee died in 1973 after having shot roughly twenty-minutes of the full-length feature, director Robert Clouse vowed to complete the film using a Bruce Lee look-a-like. Though the film was eventually released into theaters in 1978, fans continue to debate just how much involvement Lee had in the making of the film nearly three decades after the fact. Perhaps viewers will never know for certain just how much of Lee they are seeing in the final product, but in this knowing satire director Lin offers a hilarious look at how things might have gone down while simultaneously skewering mainstream cinema for it's stereotypical treatment of Asian-American actors. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

For anyone who has ever felt genuine fear while pondering what's really in that oddly shaped chicken nugget they're about to consume, director Lloyd Kaufman offers a simultaneously horrific and hilarious parody of the zombie genre that takes on the one thing scarier than the flesh-eating legions of the undead -- America's love affair with fast food. Subsequently beaten to a pulp by Wendy's rough-and-tumble girlfriend, Micki (Allyson Sereboff), and in desperate need of a steady job, disgruntled Arbie applies at the Chicken Bunker despite the fact that Wendy and Micki have launched a tireless campaign against the restaurant. But something supernatural is stirring in this poultry paradise; the spirits of the dead are not pleased that their eternal slumber has been interrupted. As the employees of the American Chicken Bunker begin dying a series of increasingly gruesome deaths, restaurant owner General Lee Roy (Robin L. Watkins) does his best to cover up the scandal and keep his customers in the dark. Meanwhile, the restless demons of the Tromahawk tribe vow to take revenge on the fast-food-loving masses by infecting every last piece of genetically modified poultry that is served at the Chicken Bunker. Once there, Ethan parties hard with his other pals, Brad (Luke Kirby) and Sean (Tom Lenk), and the three devise a scheme to wheedle Steph away from her groom-to-be. As the clueless victims are lured to the witches' lavish mansion and offered one final meal, their dark goal comes ever closer to being fully realized. For those who find Lars von Trier's film movement Dogma 95 too highbrow, the folks at Troma films created Dogpile 95. Tales from the Crapper, the first production to wear the Dogpile label, stars softcore queen Julie Strain in a frenetic omnibus of gore and nudity. The first TV movie produced by the Comedy Central cable network, Porn 'n' Chicken was, believe it or not, based on a true story. In 1996, five overworked Yale undergrads formed a club to watch porno films on weekends while ingesting mass quantities of fried chicken and Miller High Life. As the "Porn 'n' Chicken Club" gained members and notoriety, the hide-bound Yale Establishment ordered that the club be closed down. Defiantly, the original members scraped together enough money to produce their own X-rated movie -- and much to the dismay of the faculty and administration, the club became more popular and renowned than ever. In the film, all character names are changed, and even Yale is not mentioned by name (it was filmed on the campus of Columbia University). What remains constant is the youthful exuberance of the club members and the anal-retentive reaction of the authority figures, notably Kurt Fuller as the Dean. Real-life porn stars Ron Jeremy and Jenna Jameson make amusing cameo appearances. Bret Easton Ellis' controversial novel about the sexual, emotional, and chemical interactions of a group of wealthy and amoral college students is brought to the screen in this adaptation from writer and director Roger Avery. Sean Bateman (James Van Der Beek) is a student at Camden College, a well-respected private school on the East Coast. Sean is attracted to Lauren Hynde (Shannyn Sossamon), a high minded and seemingly unapproachable coed, while Lauren is infatuated with Victor (Kip Pardue), a handsome but self-centered ladies' man. Lauren's empty-headed roommate, Lara (Jessica Biel), is also attracted to Victor, while he has no qualms about being involved with both. Lauren used to date affected snob Paul Denton (Ian Somerhalder), but Paul, a bisexual, currently lusts after Sean. Meanwhile, friendly campus drug dealer Rupert (Clifton Collins Jr.) finds a ready market for cocaine among his classmates; Sean, a steady customer, finds himself financially embarrassed and begins dealing drugs to help pay off his debts, while leading Paul on for his ready supply of marijuana. A crystal-meth addict struggles to get his next fix as he obsesses over a recent breakup in Spun, a black-comic drug drama from music video director Jonas Akerlund. Rushmore's Jason Schwartzman stars as Ross, a young man who finds his maniacal world crumbling around him over the course of one long weekend. In 1978, Ron Hyatt was a special education teacher who, like many people, dreamed of some day becoming an actor. One day, Ron's girlfriend sent a nude photo of him on a whim to Playgirl magazine, who published it as part of their "Boy Next Door" feature; before long, Ron was asked to appear in a hardcore pornographic movie, and thus was the beginning of the career of Ron Jeremy, one of biggest and least-likely male stars in the adult film industry. Short, pudgy, and possessing an excess of body hair, Jeremy hardly looks like anyone's idea of a sex-show stud, but Jeremy's charm, intelligence, self-effacing good humor, and professional attitude in a business where such focus is rare made him the best-known man in porn, starring in literally hundreds of adult films and eventually breaking through to bit parts and cameo roles in mainstream features.
