A witch is burned at the stake and returns 300 years later to wreak revenge upon the ancestors of her foes in this eerie horror tale. Lise (Shelby Leverington) has become a close friend of the Vroot family, which is led by the stern hand of patriarch Peter Vroot (Aaron Phillips). Though trusted by all, the lithesome witch seduces and murders teenage son Roger (Denver John Collins), after telling him the disturbing tale of an ancient tribe of women who subjugated and ate their men. Roger's disappearance throws the unsuspecting family into confusion and fear. Lise continues to offer moral support, though soon she has caused the deaths of two more Vroot children by shocking the youngest daughter into toppling down the staircase after witnessing the decapitation of her sister. She begins flirting openly with Jake (Norman Paige), the fiancé of remaining daughter Coral (Rhonda Russell). Jake responds by coming to Lise's apartment, though when she attempts to tell him the same gruesome story that preceded Roger's murder, Jake kisses her and she is overcome by passion. Shortly afterward, Jake makes a horrific discovery, finding Roger's dismembered body in a garbage bag. ~ Fred Beldin, All Movie Guide
Distinguished by a sharp, witty dialogue between its two cop protagonists, Ray and Danny (Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal), this entertaining crime drama is well worth a visit. Ray and Danny are nearly blown away by super bad guy Julio (Jimmy Smits), and their boss is peeved at them as usual. So the two are given a holiday from their beat in Chicago and travel to the sunny shores of Key West. They like it enough to retire from police work and open a business there. But when the duo returns to the Windy City, Julio is about to pull off a big drug deal and retirement may not be such a good idea. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Since this no-brainer is basically a hybrid of frat-boy comedy and slasher-thriller exploitation which features no slashing, no humor, and fails to exploit anything, it's hard to determine what the producers really had in mind. The plot (it's in there somewhere) has something to do with a campus killer who likes to practice his own variety of hazing during Hell Week, but mainly it involves a lot of brain-dead college losers (played by similarly challenged non-actors) who blabber their way through one pointless dialogue scene after another before the murderer finally decides to bump them off. He could have done away with them before the cameras began rolling and saved everyone a lot of grief. Whatever fit of prudence prevented director Jimmy Huston from showing any scenes of graphic bloodletting (often the only points of interest in other lame entries from this subgenre) also manages to rob the film of whatever cheap thrills it might have been able to provide. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

North Carolina filmmaker Earl Owensby assembled this tense tale of hatred and bigotry. Originally titled Seabo, the film stars Owensby himself as a half-breed Indian. Subjected to endless persecution, Seabo (Owensby) reacts with violence, only to end up on a hellish chain gang. When he learns that the goonish warden is planning a wholesale slaughter of the prisoners, Seabo masterminds an escape. Most of the cast is comprised of local unknowns, with the exceptions of oldtime western stars Donald "Red" Barry and Sunset Carson. Seabo didn't get much play north of the Mason-Dixon line until it was retitled Buckstone County Prison and telecast on the HBO cable service in January of 1981. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Jack Thompson plays Stan Graham, a tragic and notorious figure of New Zealand's war years. Not the most easygoing person in the world to begins with, Graham is pushed over the edge when his farm is foreclosed. With seemingly no other options, he turns into a homicidal maniac, killing everyone he considers an enemy -- in short, everyone who crosses his path. Graham's murder spree plays right into the hands of Nazi propagandists, notably British turncoat Lord Haw-Haw. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
