Hugh Hudson Movies

British director Hugh Hudson got his start in advertising as the head of a London agency casting department and from there became a film editor in Paris. Upon his return to London, Hudson began co-directing a series of distinguished documentaries until 1970, when he teamed up with Ridley Scott to direct a number of television commercials. Five years later he founded Hudson Films and turned to feature films. He made his feature-film directorial debut with the Academy Award-winning Chariots of Fire (1981). Neither his stylish sophomore film, Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes nor his subsequent films have been as popular or well-received as his stunning debut. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
