Few television programs, Hispanic-language or otherwise, have managed to experience such an enduring level of success as Siempre En Domingo. A small-screen staple across three continents since 1969, this Latin American sensation has been compared to such popular English-language programs as The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show, and host Raul Velasco has been at the forefront of the program since the very beginning. In this release, fans can re-live some of their favorite moments from Siempre En Domingo as they view a nostalgic stream of highlights featuring such popular celebrities as Juan Gabriel, Jose Jose, Luis Miguel, and Yuri. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

In this comedy that's heavy with one-liners, the work ethic takes a drubbing and family values are touted as the true source of happiness, even for crooks. "El Multiple" (Rafael Inclan) is a devoted father and husband who loads up on stolen goods, smuggles his family and the loot into the United States, and then strikes it rich by selling his merchandise for high prices. In contrast to "El Multiple," Don Proculo (Pedro Weber) works hard to get a better life for himself by pouring his energy into his antique shop. One day while he's away on vacation, someone breaks into his store and steals everything of value. Don Proculo is forced out of business and "El Multiple" comes back, looking for a place to start a small family restaurant. For the characters in this film, family means more than a business, or the goods which so readily (and illegally) change hands. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

This drama tells the true and quite unbelievable story of popular Mexican singer Jose Sosa, played by himself. Known by fans as "Jose Jose," the singer came from a poor family and rose from rags to riches simply because of his talent. Although he fell in love with a wonderful woman, Anel (Cristian Bach) he succumbed to alcohol, drugs, and the pressures of too much success. As he went downhill, he married someone else, a mistake from the start. After nothing is left of his career and he is in the hospital fighting off a diseased liver, Anel comes back and their old flame re-ignites. The rest of the story is deservedly legendary. Fifteen of Jose Sosa's songs are on the soundtrack. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

The unbeatable combination of both Dolores del Rio and Libertad Lamarque co-starring in this three-hanky melodrama about the self-sacrificing love of a mother makes this otherwise unexceptional film a people's favorite. Lamarque plays the mistress of a married man and del Rio has the role of his wife. After the husband dies in an auto accident, the mistress survives the crash and later gives birth to their son. The grieving widow agrees to adopt the boy as her own -- on the condition that the mistress bow out of the picture completely. She agrees and so it is settled, until many years later when the repenting birth mother wants to get to know her now-grown offspring. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

A rebellious young man sets out to find himself in this melodrama by Roberto Rodríguez (of the brothers Rodríguez, well-established in Mexican cinema). The setting is Acapulco and the young man is one of the divers who throw themselves off the incredibly high cliffs known as the Quebrada, for recompense from tourists. That calling is dangerous enough but the unhappy home life of the diver sends him away, looking for his niche in the world. Just because of his dysfunctional family he is not so good at engendering relationships himself and when he does meet someone interesting he hurts the woman's feelings -- which does not bode well for finding the love he needs. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

This typical Mexican tortilla Western about a "charro" or cowboy from south of the border has more Hollywood-style touches than usual. The valiant hero (Pedro Armendariz) carries his two six-shooters wherever he goes and wears his ten-gallon sombrero like a Latin John Wayne. He has a trusty sidekick who will break into song now and again, but is equally armed in case danger rides into town. In-between fighting for justice, the ~charros~ get to watch a small-town beauty contest which adds a light intermission to the proceedings. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Based on the authentic Mexican legend first filmed in 1933 as La Llorona, this film begins with a flashback to a gruesome railway murder, setting up the legend of the wailing woman. In the present, a couple (Abel Salazar, Rosita Arenas) travels to a spooky mansion where evil Rita Macedo is trying to revive the mummified La Llorona. Macedo, the wailing ghost, and a deformed caretaker (Enrique Lucero) terrorize the central couple in fairly standard, ho-hum fashion, but director Rafael Baledon uses some interesting techniques to build atmosphere, and Arenas is solid as the imperiled heiress. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

A standard Mexican melodrama, Que Bonito Amor features two popular Latino actors, Lola Beltran and Antonio Aguilar as a couple whose version of marriage includes a serious competition for first place in the domestic arena. When they reverently approach the altar in their wedding ceremony, all goes well and normally until the priest asks the bride if she will honor and ~obey~ her husband -- and that ticks her off. Her reaction elicits an equal and opposite reaction from her groom, and that sequence sets the stage for their life together as newlyweds. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
