Gambler Jack Brookfield (C. Aubrey Smith) has psychic abilities and unconsciously he suggests a means of murdering the governor to Frank Hardmuth, a lawyer and political aspirant (Robert Conness). The murder is committed by a young man, Clay Whipple (Jack Sherill) and, as Hardmuth happens to be the prosecuting attorney, the trial promises to be short and simple. But Brookfield works his psychic powers on a member of the jury to hold up the verdict until it can be proved that Hardmuth was responsible for the crime. The scenario was based on -- and kept very faithful to -- the play by Augutus Thomas. ~ Janiss Garza, All Movie Guide
Louis Joseph Vance, creator of the pulp-novel detective hero The Lone Wolf, penned the story upon which Day of Days was based. Cyril Scott heads the cast as a lowly clerk in a tannery. Through luck and pluck, Scott manages to thwart the evil designs of a criminal gang-not to mention his crooked boss. Need we add that he wins the girl? Day of Days was produced by theatrical impresario Daniel Frohman, who one year later would go down with the Lusitania. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Based on the classic revenge tale by Alexander Dumas, this film was one of the first feature-length American movies, and starred notable stage actors, including James O'Neill as the title character. ~ John Bush, All Movie Guide
