Directed by John Feldman, Who the Hell is Bobby Roos? is a wholly improvised film based on the real-life experiences of co-screenwriter and star Roger Kabler. Kabler's career as a widely acclaimed comedic impressionist wobbled slightly in the early '90s, when he began to feel overwhelmed by his own subject matter. Likewise, the character of Bobby Roos (Kabler) rises quickly through the comedy circuit, becoming well-known for his impressions of Robert De Niro, Robin Williams, and Al Pacino. However, Roos' professionalism teeters precariously when he begins to continue his impressions outside of the comedy club. Some of his antics include beating a heckler as he believes De Niro would have in Taxi Driver, and pursuing a romantic relationship exclusively in his De Niro persona. It takes a snowbound experience in a New England cabin to snap Roos out of his daze and force him to embrace his true identity. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

In this independent drama, Vivian Saunders (Elizabeth Pena) comes home one day to an unusual surprise: her boyfriend Reggie (Andrew McCarthy) is lying on the kitchen table with a large sword sticking out of his body. At first Vivian thinks this must be some sort of joke, but she discovers that Reggie is indeed dead, and as she calls her best friend Louise (Paige Turco) to figure out what might have happened and what to do, it occurs to her that she blacked out after too much wine the night before and isn't sure what she did before she passed out. After a few phone calls, Vivian's women's support group arrives, and what to do about Reggie soon takes second place to what Vivian should do for herself. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Three of life's losers stage a reunion early in the proceedings of Alligator Eyes. Renewing their long-standing friendship are alcoholic Roger Kabler, his self-defeating pal Allen McCullough, and McCullough's blind former girlfriend Annabelle Larsen. The trio goes on a cross-country trip, reminiscing on their wasted lives as they journey from town to town. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the film becomes a revenge tale, with Larsen searching for her parents' murderers. Then we segue into a series of "sexual manipulation" scenes, apparently orchestrated by unscrupulous psychiatrist John MacKay. Needless to say, the critics were crazy about Alligator Eyes; audiences, confused by the film's abrupt mood swings, were less enthusiastic. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
