Set in five neighborhoods of Los Angeles, director Christopher Landon's ensemble comedy drama Burning Palms follows a small group of protagonists as they shatter taboos and strive for success. When a lonely woman meets a handsome single father (Dylan McDermott), she thinks she's found the perfect mate. She begins to have second thoughts, however, upon witnessing his unusual interactions with his overly flirtatious adolescent daughter (Emily Meade). Meanwhile, a woman (Jamie Chung) seeking to please her sexually deviant boyfriend finds that the price of submission may be more than she's willing to pay, and a gay couple (Peter Macdissi and Anson Mount) begin to have second thoughts about adoption after welcoming an African child into their home. Things only get more absurd when a depressed woman (Zoe Saldana) makes a bizarre proposal to a man (Nick Stahl) who recently attacked her, and a mischievous boy engages his brothers in a series of increasingly twisted challenges. Rosamund Pike and Lake Bell co-star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

It's yet another version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, with a gender-bender twist. Tori Spelling stars as Carol Cummings, a fabulously wealthy and enormously successful TV talk show host -- and a first-class shrew. Caring little for anything but the money and the celebrity that her job accrues, Carol mercilessly bullies and harangues everyone with whom she works, from her ulcerated producer Jimmy Fields (Michael Landes) to her long-suffering personal assistant Roberta Timmons (Nina Siemaszko), a single mom who dares not risk losing her job -- especially with Christmas just a few days away. While feverishly putting together a Yuletide TV special, Carol is visited by the ghost of her Aunt Marla (Dinah Manoff), who in her time was an even more insufferable diva than her niece. Warning Carol to change her ways before it is too late, Aunt Marla further proclaims that Carol will that evening be visited by three spirits who will show her the error of her ways. From this point forward it's the same old story, though it's fun to watch Gary Coleman as the Ghost of Christmas Past (appropriately in the form of a washed-up sitcom star!) and especially William Shatner as a Dr. Phil-style Ghost of Christmas Present. Also, the film represents one of the few times that the Scrooge character has a living love interest -- namely, Jason Brooks as John, a well-known Good Samaritan who continues to pine for Carol even after she has decided that he's the proverbial millstone around her neck. A Carol Christmas was first telecast by cable's Hallmark Channel on December 7, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

After envisioning the death of her new boyfriend, Miles (Ken Marino), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) ends up repeatedly rescuing the poor fellow from certain doom. In so doing, Phoebe upsets the time-space continuum, unleashing the futuristic warlock Bacarra (Butch Klein) -- who in turn is under the control of the demonic "future" Cole (Julian McMahon). The "present" Cole balks when ordered by Bacarra to take Miles' life, even though his refusal will result in the deaths of Phoebe and Paige (Holly Marie Combs). Ultimately, the only "Charmed One" left standing is Piper (Holly Marie Combs), and it is she who must put time back in joint and save her sisters (not to mention the future world). ~ Rovi

Harris Done co-writes and directs Purgatory Flats, a low-level actioner about Thomas Reed (Vincent Ventresca), a California physician thrown into the slammer after offing his wife in a drunk driving accident. Upon release, Reed high-tails it to a small town where he finds trouble yet again, this time at the hands of the saucy Sunny Burkhardt (Alexandra Holden), a young woman distantly involved with the extraordinarily dysfunctional and violent Mecklin family, including the hotheaded, bullet-thirsty Owen (evin Alejandro). A conflict soon erupts between the two men. Purgatory Flats features supporting performances by Pat Corley, (Murphy Brown) and Nicholas Turturro (NYPD Blue). ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

While covering a story in a remote Brazilian rainforest, television journalist Ann Bauer (Gabrielle Anwar) stumbles all too literally on greedy Dr. North's (David Naughton) secret experiment: Raise genetically mutated bees and sell their venom's healing properties as medicine. But the bees contain a deadly, fast-acting virus, and North has shipped several cases of the live insects onto a passenger jet headed for -- gulp! -- New York City. Luckily, Ann's soon-to-be-ex-husband Marty (Craig Sheffer) is on the plane. Unluckily, back in Brazil, crazed terrorist Mr. Ezekial (Rutger Hauer) and his helicopter-borne army are intent on wiping out the Shadow People tribe of Indians to keep the bees for himself. ~ Buzz McClain, Rovi

Loosely following the format of ABC's 1969-74 comedy anthology series Love, American Style, Aaron Spelling's first Love Boat set sail September 24, 1977 with the series' intertwining stories all taking place aboard the cruise ship Pacific Princess, captained by Gavin MacLeod. Spelling Television updated the concept in this 1998 romantic comedy series with Captain Jim Kennedy III (Robert Urich) retired from the Navy and now at the helm of the luxury liner Sun Princess. There's a full crew of regulars on board, and Kennedy's 15-year-old mischievous son Danny (Kyle Howard) roams the ship while it cruises about in search of love, Caribbean style. ~ Bhob Stewart, Rovi

A made-for-TV effort from horror director Tobe Hooper (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre), this supernatural thriller is ostensibly based on the novella of the same name by Cornell Woolrich -- but the title is pretty much where the similarity ends. The plot involves a possessed Aztec ceremonial cloak (once used to line a sacred burial chamber) which poisons the soul of anyone who wears it. An improbable string of events sees the cloak turned into a little slip of a dress -- donned by several different women, but worn to evil perfection by Madchen Amick (Twin Peaks's Shelly). I'm Dangerous Tonight features colorful supporting performances from Anthony Perkins and R. Lee Ermey. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi
