With just one weekend to perform a heroic deed before he flunks out of fairy tale school, a desperate young student embarks on the adventure of a lifetime in this fun twist on the classic tale featuring Gilbert Gottfried, Chevy Chase, Christopher Lloyd, Katey Sagal, and James Earl Jones. Throwing caution to the wind, young Jack trades his C.O.W. (Computer of Wonder) for a small pile of magic beans. The following morning, Jack is stunned to find that his beans have sprouted into a stalk that leads straight up into the clouds. Ascending the stalk, Jack discovers a wondrous new world where anything seems possible, and discovers that heroes can come in small packages when they have the courage to face their fears. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

One of The Brothers Grimm's best loved fairy tales gets an overhaul using the latest in visual effects technology in this comedy-drama for the whole family. A little girl (Dakota Fanning) has a hard time getting to sleep, so her father (Daniel Roebuck) dusts off a book of children's stories and reads her one of his favorites. Hansel (Jacob Smith) and Gretel (Taylor Momsen) are two children who are being raised by their loving father (Gerald McRaney) and his shrewish second wife (Delta Burke) after the unfortunate death of their mother. When Father is forced to leave home to find work in the city, Stepmother decides this would be the perfect time to get rid of the children, and she manages to "lose" Hansel and Gretel in an enchanted forest. While the children make a valuable and magical friend in The Sandman (Howie Mandel), they also encounter a mysterious woman with a gingerbread house (Lynn Redgrave), who takes them in; however, it isn't long before they learn she's actually a witch, and has made some unorthodox dinner plans involving her young guests. Hansel & Gretel also features the voice talents of Sinbad, Bobcat Goldthwaite, and Tom Arnold as, respectively, a talking raven, a troll, and the Bogeyman. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Add 2001: A Space Travesty to QueueAdd 2001: A Space Travesty to top of Queue
Originally titled 2000.1: A Space Travesty, this zany send-up of Stanley Kubrick's 1968 sci-fi classic will never be confused with Noel Coward or Neil Simon. The inescapable Leslie Nielsen (who also co-produced and co-scripted) stars as U.S. Marshall Richard "Dick" Dix, who springs into action when President Bill Clinton (Damien Masson) is kidnapped and held hostage on Moon Base Vega. There is nothing for Dix to do but suit up and board a space vessel bound for the moon to rescue the finger-waggling chief executive, whose clone is wreaking more havoc than usual back on Earth. The film's high level of humor can be gleaned from the fact that onboard the spaceship is a highly intelligent computer named "SAL," who sounds like a character from The Godfather -- and dresses accordingly. A Canadian/German co-production, 2001: A Space Travesty was filmed in 2000, then went straight to home video, though it did not make its "official" American debut until it was shown on the Comedy Central cable network on January 13, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Writer-director Gregory C. Haynes serves up a down-home twist on the traditional romantic comedy with this tale of a 30-something lawyer who starts to feel the marriage bug. Danny (Adam Trese) still harbors dreams of becoming a cowboy when his fiancée leaves him on the eve of their wedding ceremony. Luckily, not one, but two women come along to ease his suffering: the bubbly Jo Jo (High Art's Radha Mitchell) and the more traditional Candice (Mia Kirshner). Which woman will put an end to the tears in Danny's beer? Will he really trade in his briefs and torts for chaps and a lariat? Cowboys and Angels premiered at the 2000 L.A. Independent Film Festival. ~ Michael Hastings, Rovi

This fourth installment in the horror saga bears little resemblance to Stephen King's original tale. Unlike the third episode, which was set in Chicago, this one is again set in a small Nebraska town where a medical student notices that the local kids are all ears when it comes to the words of a mysterious preacher who seems to encourage them to murderously stalk the adults. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

With no more rural Midwestern adults left to slaughter, two brothers from Gatling, Nebraska are sent to foster homes in the Windy City. The little brother, who murdered his own father, is a disciple of the dreaded "He Who Walks Behind the Rows" and has brought a few corn seeds with him so his evil mentor will have a place to stay. The seeds grow and soon the demon is harvesting a fresh crop of recruits to do his murderous bidding. Though based on a novel and film by Stephen King, the author had nothing to do with this sequel.
