Sex, blood and rock 'n' roll are on the menu at one frantic bash in this over-the-top comedy from France. Alice (Frederique Bel), Prune (Julie Fournier) and Sam (Patrick Mille) are three close friends who are excited to learn they've been invited to La Nuit Medicis, a notoriously wild party held every year in a castle that's said to be haunted. The friends are expecting a big night of debauchery, but things turns out to be a great deal different when they meet their host, the mysterious Le Duc de Journiac (Tcheky Karyo). Journiac is actually a vampire, and the big to-do is held each year so he and his minions can feast on the blood of unsuspecting locals like Alice, Prune and Sam. Teaming up with several fellow party-goers, the three friends quickly organize an attack on the undead revelers, and when they run short on traditional weapons such as garlic, crosses and stakes, they're forced to improvise and vanquish the ghouls with MP3 players and exercise gear. Les Dents de la nuit (aka Vampire Party) also features Sam Karmann and Helene de Fougerolles. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A couple whose ages are separated by 25 years face an uncertain future in this romantic drama. Roman (Thierry Lhermitte) is a cartoonist in his early fifties who for the past five years has been involved with Lulu (Claire Keim), an attractive actress in her mid-twenties. Roman and Lulu have been very happy together, and while there are no outward flaws in their relationship, Roman can't shake the feeling that Lulu would be better off spending her life with someone her own age. When Lulu lands a movie role in America, she begins packing her bags for a trip to California, but the weekend before she leaves, Roman decides to tell her that it's time they parted ways -- a decision she hardly agrees with. Le Roman do Lulu was directed by Pierre-Olivier Scotto, who also appears in a supporting role as a publisher. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Three old French jamons attempt to make a comeback by working in a road-show production of Scoubidou in this hilarious French farce. Also on the tour are the flighty leading actress Carla Milo, and a murderous producer, Shapiron, who knows the show is a stinker and tries to convince Carla to feign an illness so they can collect the show's insurance money. Unfortunately, Carla would never dream of letting down her "fans" and so refuses. The three hams, meanwhile do not get along at all. Victor suffers great swings, he is either terrified of the crowd or grossly overacting while evil-tempered Georges is only in it for the money. Then there's Eddie, who thinks of himself as a Casanova and adores the notion of a little behind-the-scenes romance. When the desperate Shapiron decides to use physical force to get Carla to quit, the three has-beens rally 'round to protect her. This happens during a performance, much to the delight of the audience. Soon the show becomes a huge success and is slated to play on Broadway where the silliness intensifies because none of the actors can really speak English. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Together, the threesome revel in a relaxing time all the while, poking fun at the elegant folk around them. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Erotic, funny, and very French, this film relies heavily on the critically-acclaimed performance of Jean Rochefort. As a child, Antoine (Rochefort) was obsessed with the ample beautician who cut his hair, and since then, his single ambition in life has been to marry a hairdresser. As an adult, Antoine meets a woman (Anna Galiena) who seems to be the perfect incarnation of his childhood fantasies. He promptly marries her, then spends most of his daylight hours sitting in her shop, watching her every move. They are so crazy in love that some days they close up early to be alone. As time passes the shop becomes their entire world. ~ Yuri German, All Movie Guide

Someone to Watch Over Me, a mystery thriller directed by Ridley Scott is the story of a police officer who falls in love with the woman he is hired to protect and the effect of this affair on his marriage and his life. Claire (Mimi Rogers) an extremely wealthy socialite is the sole witness to a mob murder and is in great danger. Mike (Tom Berenger), a happily married NYC police officer is assigned to protect her and takes up residence in her foyer while she waits to testify. A romance develops between the unlikely couple which threatens Mike's marriage to Ellie (Lorraine Bracco). All of this sounds more exciting than it is, and while the film fails to generate much suspense, the love story and Mike's dilemma are interesting. All the performances are excellent, particularly that of Bracco as the no-nonsense wife. The score is exceptional and the photography and set decoration are all fine. Someone to Watch Over Me is a fine police thriller and love story. ~ Linda Rasmussen, All Movie Guide
