Based on the song Mack the Knife, the very popular Rubén Blades song Pedro Navajas was the inspiration for a very popular Mexican movie taking the song name as its title, about a pimp and prostitute whose love/hate relationship resulted in their mutual destruction. In this sequel, their son develops into a defender of women. Raised in the U.S., the lad comes to Mexico when he hears his mother has died and attempts to look for his father. He is shocked to discover that he, too, has died. In Un Hombre Violente the much put-upon auto mechanic Julian Carrera (Valentin Trujillo) got the revenge he sought upon those who killed his father. Now he has decided to find a more acceptable outlet for his urge to clean up society by using the most violent possible techniques: he has joined the police. In this extremely graphic and gory sequel, he is teamed up with Roberto Rojas (Sergio Goyri) and together, they break up a brutal narcotics ring in the most violent manner. This melodramatic, three-handkerchief tortilla Western features good acting by Pedro Infante, Jr. as Reynaldo and Arturo Martinez, Jr. as Lauro. Both men are romancing Marsela (Monica Prado), whose main interest lies in the number of pesos she can put in the bank and how to ascend the social ladder. Marsela refuses to marry her beloved Lauro because he cannot afford to tie the knot in the splendid Basilica of Guadalupe. As a gang of bandidos wreaks havoc in the community, wedding plans continue for Marsela's marriage to Lauro's best friend, Reynaldo. But considering the number of bodies piling up in the war of the bandits, it looks like the bride may have to wear black. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

Actor turned director Rodolfo De Anda's farcical sci-fi-comedy was based on Mauricio Iglesias' novel, El Amor Es una Farsa, although the laughs aren't as pointed or frequent. Andres Garcia toplines as a man with surgically enhanced super-strength (the title clearly an effort to capitalize on the international success of The Six Million Dollar Man). Despite his gifts, poor Garcia is still a flop with the opposite sex and he goes to ridiculous lengths -- including posing as Count Dracula -- to reverse his romantic fortunes. Familiar genre faces along for this very silly ride include Isela Vega, Roberto Guzman, and Rafael Inclan. De Anda went on to direct the overwrought La Carcel de Laredo before deciding to keep concentrating on his acting career. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide
