A lonely trophy wife turns to her adult stepson for companionship after being denied freedom and an opportunity for a career of her own by her wealthy yet distant husband. Continually made to stay at home while her husband Richard jets to exotic corners of the globe on business, Caitlin Cory does her best to deny her attraction to her virile stepson Eric. When Caitlin calls her husband in a hotel room across the country and hears another woman's voice in the background, however, she gives in to her erotic whims and seduces Eric at his secluded lakeside cabin. Later, when Richard discovers evidence of the sordid affair, he unleashes hell on his unfaithful wife before turning his wrath on his own son with unforeseen consequences. The title Article 99 refers to a fictional legal loophole which states that American veterans cannot be treated in VA hospitals unless their illnesses are related to their military service. The pinchpenny administrator of a Kansas City hospital intends to follow this proviso to the letter, while his irreverent staff does everything it can to circumvent rules and red tape. Siblings Eric Roberts and Julia Roberts appear in this old-fashioned saga about oppressed Sicilian wine-growers in 19th-century California. Giancarlo Giannini stars as Sebastian Collogero, the robust Italian patriarch who is battling with railroad mogul William Bradford Berrigan (Dennis Hopper) to prevent his land from being taken over by the rail company. Sebastian's spirited son, Marco (Eric Roberts), is in love with Angelica (Lara Harris), the daughter of a rival wine-grower's clan. Marco is not very concerned about the warfare about to erupt between the wine-growers and the railroad until Berrigan's thugs torture and kill Sebastian in front of his daughter Maria (Julia Roberts). Willie Dynamite (Roscoe Orman) is a Manhattan pimp whose life and career are documented in this blaxploitation flick. Willie makes it to the top of his precarious profession, only to hit rock bottom again in record time. In her last movie role, Diana Sands plays an ex-hooker who becomes a social worker. She tries to get Willie to clean up his act before it's too late.
