A man trying to forget his past is thrown into a present of grave danger in this thriller. Quill (David Soul) once had a career as a police officer and a wife who loved him. But when Quill mistakenly killed his wife in the midst of a shootout with criminals, he sank into alcoholism and now earns his living as the captain of a charter fishing boat. Four tourists from France hire Quill to take them deep sea fishing, but while out on the water, Quill and his passengers discover a small boat that's sinking. Quill helps to rescue Harry (Vlasta Vrana) and his sons Jake (Carl Marotte) and Ollie (Martin Watier) from the vessel, but Quill discovers that the men he rescued are not pleasure boaters, but drug smugglers -- and more than willing to drag Quill and his customers into their dangerous game. Produced for Canadian television, Crosswinds was filmed in both French- and English-language versions. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Though it seems impossible that anyone but another lobster could be offended by the Italian-American domestic comedy Lobster for Breakfast, viewers should be warned that the film is rife with bathroom humor. But, hey, it's justified: the hero, played by Enrico Montesano is a travelling toilet salesman. Aspiring for a better life, Montesano is sidetracked by romantic and financial travails. One of his amours is played by French actress Claudine Auger, just as gorgeous as she was way back in the 1965 James Bond escapade Thunderball. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Dede (Lando Buzzanca) has some problems in this Italian sex comedy. His wife is very domineering, his mistress is sexually insatiable, and he is the proud "keeper" of a very athletic young woman who is his sex slave. The problem? Even with all the variations on sexual hierarchy (submission, equality, dominance) available to him, his attentions wander to yet more women. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This routine, slow-paced biographical drama is based on the 1929 autobiography of Swedish doctor Axel Martin Fredrik, The Story of San Michele. The drama follows the physician, psychiatrist, and adventurer as he travels the distances from Lapland to his Villa San Michele on Capri, with special stops in Paris and Rome. Personal physician to Queen Victoria, also physician to the Swedish royal family (he spent his last years living in the Royal Palace in Sweden), "Axel Munthe" knew everyone from the poorest clients to the most well-endowed. His love of animals, his support of bird sanctuaries, his involvement with architecture as he constructs his impressive villa over a period of five summers, and his interests in archaeology and hypnotism are all explored. O.W. Fischer's portrayal of the doctor is sometimes criticized as having more Fischer than Munthe in it. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

In this suspenseful WW II thriller, the hard-bitten commander of a British battleship stationed in Alexandria Harbor early in the war must force two captured Italian frogmen to tell him whether or not they planted time-bombs upon the ship's hull. The captives are uncooperative and the captain has them wait with the crew for the ship to explode. The minutes tick by and the increasingly nervous British sailors begin questioning their leader's judgment. Eventually, one of the hostages cracks and tells them that there is one mine, but he refuses to divulge its location or the time of detonation. The captain evacuates the ship and leaves the prisoners behind. He remains aboard and surreptitiously eavesdrops upon them. When he learns the mine's location, he attempts to have the bomb removed. Unfortunately he is too late and the ship is badly damaged. Desiring to fool the Italian reconnaissance planes he knows will come, the captain puts most of his crew on deck to make the Italian fliers think their mission failed. Meanwhile other crewmen frantically try to repair the ruined hull below deck. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Director Pierre Billon co-adapted the screenplay of Orage from a novel by Henri Bernstein. Released in the U.S. as Storm, the film stars Raf Vallone as André, a good husband and family man. André, in fact, is too good to suit his mistress Françoise (Françoise Arnoul). Realizing that he'd be better off with his wife, Elena (Elena Varzi), who is about to have a baby, Françoise nobly and respectfully sends André packing. There's more to the story than that, of course, but Françoise and André are the only people in the story truly worth caring about. Pierre Billon slyly depicts the mistress as being far more desirable than the wife, demonstrating that what happens to André could happen to any man in the audience. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
