Add George Lopez: Tall, Dark & Chicano to Queue Add George Lopez: Tall, Dark & Chicano to top of Queue
Latino pride reigns in this comedy special from one of America's top funnymen. In Tall, Dark & Chicano, nothing is safe from George Lopez's wit, including the sacred purity (and gas-inducing tendencies) of Mexican food, the joy of Sonia Sotomayor's confirmation as a Supreme Court judge, and the silliness of Caucasian baby names. For the taping of this HBO special, the comedian sold out the huge arena at the AT&T Center in San Antonio. ~ Kimber Myers, Rovi

Adapted from SNL alumni Will Ferrell's one-man Broadway show, this filmed performance finds the celebrated comic lampooning the 43rd President of the United States one last time before George W. Bush ends his eight-year term. From the former president's charmed childhood to his rowdy college years, his post-collegiate stint as co-owner of the Texas Rangers, and ultimate role as the leader of the free world, no aspect of Bush's life or career is immune from Ferrell's outrageous brand of political satire. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Add Sandra Bernhard: I'm Still Here...Damn It! to Queue Add Sandra Bernhard: I'm Still Here...Damn It! to top of Queue
Actress/comedian Sandra Bernhard is known to millions as a frequent guest star on TV series such as Roseanne and Ally McBeal, but I'm Still Here Dammit! provides a document of her most enduring work: her one-woman shows. Although the piece originally ran on Broadway and was the basis of a comedy CD, the version here was recorded live at the San Francisco club Slim's for an HBO broadcast and bolstered by an additional 30 minutes of footage on video. Clad in a diaphanous peach frock that reveals both her underwear and her very visibly pregnant belly, Bernhard practices her wit on topics such as cell phones and the Internet, faux spirituality, the Lilith Fair, America's obsession with anti-bacterial products, her Latino house-painter and her lone, unpleasant experience taking hashish at an Amsterdam bar. Although the show features fewer songs than her previous outings, Bernhard is backed by longtime collaborator Mitch Kaplan on such tunes as "On the Runway," a mock-tribute to slain fashion designer Gianni Versace, which Berhnard imagines as a collaboration between Sting, Elton John, and Naomi Campbell, with proceeds to benefit "fashion victims everywhere." Other celebrity monologues chart Fleetwood Mac singer Christine McVie's fantastical transformation into a greasy-spoon waitress and Bernhard's possibly imaginary friendship with grunge diva-turned-actress Courtney Love. I'm Still Here Dammit was directed by Pee-Wee Herman Show vet Marty Callner. Award-winning Hollywood cinematographer Haskell Wexler also participated. ~ Brian J. Dillard, Rovi

Paul Reubens' Pee-Wee Herman character first attracted widespread notice as a result of this HBO special, which preceded both the Tim Burton-directed film Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and the Peabody Award-winning children's series Pee-Wee's Playhouse. A filmed document of Herman's nightclub show, the performance is an obvious precursor to the later kids' TV series, and features many of the same characters, including Captain Carl (Phil Hartman) and Jombi the Genie (John Paragon); still, the humor is considerably more risqué and adult than the later Herman projects. ~ Jason Ankeny, Rovi
