Can a gay man with a weight problem find happiness in the most image-conscious town on Earth? Louie Cappa (Dominick Brascia) is a stand-up comic whose career is going great; he's landed an appearance on The Tonight Show and has even taped his own special for HBO. However, Louie's private life isn't so good; Louie is gay, but he's too self-conscious to come out of the closet to his friends. Louie's insecurities are not helped much by his appearance -- recently relocated to California, surrounded by the tall, thin, and beautiful, Louie is a short, stocky guy who in his own mind looks like a troll. Louie finally works up the nerve to tell his best friend Steven (David Chisum) that he's gay, and Louie is worried how this will impact their friendship. Steven, who is straight, takes the news in stride at first, and even goes so far as to take Louie to a gay bar in hopes that his friend can meet someone special. However, things get uncomfortable when a number of men start hitting on the taller and better-looking Steven, while Louie looks on in despair. My Life As a Troll was written and directed by actor Dominick Brascia, who first learned the ropes as a director on the slice-and-dice horror film Evil Laugh. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Inasmuch as National Lampoon magazine was on its last legs in 1994, the title National Lampoon's Last Resort was all too prophetic. The film takes place at, yes, a summer resort, which is threatened with extinction by (in unison, please) Evil Land Developers. Can the Corey boys -- Haim and Feldman -- save the camp? You might get some incidental fun by predicting precisely when the first bathroom joke is about to occur (it doesn't take long). Unlike previous National Lampoon features, Last Resort went direct to video. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The Night Courters believe they has scored a coup when they arrange for Mel Torme to sing at Harry's 40th birthday party. Alas, as the big evening approaches, it looks like the Velvet Fog will be a no-show. And the fault lies with Harry (Harry Anderson) himself: honoring duty over adulation, the Judge has jailed his idol Mel for nonpayment of traffic tickets! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The murderous spirit of Jason Vorhees lives on in this horror sequel, although the plot hinges on the mystery of whether the killer's body actually survives. Opening with a nightmare prologue in which Corey Feldman reprises his role as Tommy Jarvis, the boy who killed Jason in the previous installment, the film jumps forward several years to when a teenaged Tommy (John Shepherd), haunted by visions of Jason returning to life, moves into a group home for mentally disturbed kids. Almost as soon as he arrives, Tommy witnesses the death of Joey (Dominick Brascia), an overweight, annoying boy who is hacked to death by psychopathic patient Vic (Mark Venturini). Although Vic ends up safely behind bars, other bodies begin to turn up -- more than 20 by the end of the film. Tommy's own violent streak, displayed when he lashes out at a fellow resident, makes him a suspect; he even doubts his own sanity. But as the bloodshed continues, Tommy finds himself allied with Reggie (Shavar Ross), the grandson of one of the home's employees, in a desperate bid to survive the carnage and find out who the killer behind the hockey mask really is. The producers of the Friday the 13th series actually planned to end it with Friday the 13th -- The Final Chapter, but the box-office success of that film paved the way for the series to continue. ~ Brian J. In this deplorable Howard Avedis film masquerading as a horror flic, Dianne Stevens (Sybil Danning) is an English professor who seduces one of her students (Eric Brown) and then brings him into a plot hatched by herself and her husband (Andrew Prine) to get their hands on a few million that now belong to the husband's mother and grandmother. Before the first peg is in place, a masked nutcase starts killing off the cast of characters, perhaps with the thought of putting this vapid movie out of its misery and going home early. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
