Produced for cable's Sci-Fi Channel, Alien Express makes up in speed what it lacks in production finesse. Among the passengers on the maiden trip of a new, streamlined "bullet train" is a collection of millionaires, presidential candidates and beauty contest winners--not to mention a band of eco-terrorists who plan to hijack the train as it streaks nonstop from LA to Vegas at 100 mph. Making matters worse, if such a thing is possible, the train has been invaded by lizardish space aliens, who multiply at an astonishing rate and have a nasty habit of spittig toxing goo at the passengers. And oh, have we mentioned the suicide bomber in the baggage car? Thank heaven that all-purpose detective Vic Holden (Lou Diamond Phillips) is on board to (hopefully) save everyone--including his estranged wife--from villains foreign, domestic and extraterrestrial. "Chop Chop" Frankie Carbone (Armand Assante) has made a career out of stealing cars for the mob in Chicago. An attempted assassination by a mob boss goes badly and Frankie retaliates, only to wind up in the hands of the Feds. Frankie agrees to testify against the mobsters and his life is suddenly worthless -- unless he submits to going into federal protection. The FBI gives him a new name -- Howard Akers -- and relocates him to a sleepy middle-class suburb in Little Rock, AR. Howard catches the attention of his lovely neighbor, Leigh (Angela Featherstone), a bored fund-raiser for a non-profit zoo whose husband, Dennis (David Lipper), is having an affair -- and she knows it, but she doesn't know it's with her hot-blooded sister, Bootsie (Dina Meyer). Anthony Hickox directs Armand Assante in the espionage-laced action thriller Last Run. Assante plays Frank Banner, a man who spent much of his career helping Soviet spies make their way safely away from Mother Russia. This difficult task has left him hollow and bitter, as well as a widower. Quick is based on a series of adventure novels featuring a gorgeous hitwoman. When the title character, played by Teri Polo, is set up by her boss, she takes -- well -- quick action. Abducting the mob witness (Martin Donovan) whom she'd been hired to kill, Quick runs off to parts unknown. As the evil henchmen (Jeff Fahey, on the verge of better parts, and Robert Davi) close in, Quick decides to befriend her captive and entreat his aid. A crazed sniper picks off motorists at random, then taunts the authorities by providing cryptic clues to a radio psychiatrist. Sarah "Sunny" Harper (Darlanne Flugel), the fiancee of one of the victims, tries to piece together the evidence without official help, hopefully to beat the psycho at his own game.
